I'm in the process of making a Builders and Fighters map, and I'm having some problems with Teams.

I've looked at the other 3 or 4 Builder/Fighter maps out there for SC2 already - a couple of them aren't even built well... and the others seem to have similar problems.

What I'm looking for is essentially the pregame lobby to have 4 teams (2-Builders, 1-Fighter, 2-Builders, 1-Fighter), and I want players to be able to move around and change their roles based on their position in the lobby. However, from what I can tell, the Host always spawns as Player1, and I'm not sure if that screws with anything else. I don't have a lot of friends on at the same time so it's hard for me to test this stuff on my own... If there's no way to get he Host to be able to play as player4 that's fine... but then the next question is, does the order you join the game dictate which player you are and you're then stuck with it? or can you move other players around to the player slots u want?

If the order you join officially sticks you with that player# than the teams might as well always be locked. So it's hard to believe that's the case. I looked around on a few forums and it seems there's still a lot of confusion about this topic, seeing as it has a lot to do with GAME VARIANTS setup as well with, what seems to me, a lot of redundant settings. But maybe I'm missing something.

Just clearing what the settings in Game Variants actually do in respect to pregame lobby positions and ingame player# roles would be a huge help. Anyways, Thanks!

Hello

You know, the lobby is designed... in a very very crappy way. Under game variants, Player1,2,3,4... are always in the order they joined the team, not the slot. Additionally, computer players can't be locked as it is returning an error while uploading. No direct answer but at least some information. Therefore, I recommend using an ingame-dialog to chose team and use arrays for teams and it's players.

Yeah I'm getting sick of it. Ingame team setup's the way to go. Maybe the next update will fix this.

Hello

Ya, indeed gigins, that's why many mapmakers already created ingame dialogs and just stopped taking care of the lobby. Good thing there are variables to store players, this makes everything easier as well :)
