All right. I've had a certain problem that I've been trying to Fix and through many sites I have ventured off to in hopes of fixing this said problem. I posted this thread here because I had no idea where the fuck else it could go. (Well, okay I thought maybe Computers would have worked but . . .)

In a nut shell I've tried seeking help and one by one my brave and bold attempts have been thwarted by my dreaded computer, SEN is possibly my last hope. (Third last, actually) My own problems aside I thought maybe SEN could use a tech support thread so besides me begging for help others can too . . . if this thread isn't locked.

(Moving on . . .)

I can't join any games even though my internet works. I can log into battle.net, but I just cannot join games.and I am incredibly inept with computers. Besides me not being able to join any games half the time when I try to log on battle.net it gives me a message which goes much like this -

'Your internet connection is either very poor or is not processing UDP packets. through port 6112. Bla bla bla a bunch of other shit that doesn't matter.' And trust me, you really don't want to fucking know how much times I typed this damn thing just today alone o.o.

The person that aids me in my time of desperate neediness will be thanked . . . a lot.

SEN has a tech support forum. Something related to not being able to join games would go in Starcraft discussion.

Really? Thanks! I'll be posting this thread there instead.

Try Blizzard's Tech Support page.

Just in case, forward your ports. Go to this page, select your router model and follow instructions.

Forward ports 6112 to 6119 to your LAN IPv4 address. Forward both TCP and UDP just to make sure.

All you need is port 6112 UDP.
Any additional ports you may have read about are for other battle.net games like warcraft 3 and definitely not needed for Starcraft.

If you are using any type of firewall, router, or you are sharing your internet connection between multiple computers, you may need to set your system up to allow access to the game servers. The firewall or router will need to allow unrestricted communication on TCP and UDP Port numbers 1119 and 1120. StarCraft II Battle.net connection utilizes TCP while the Voice Chat features use UDP.

All from StarCraft II tech support pages, so I really have no idea what the correct set of ports are. I have 6112 to 6119 forwarded and I have no problems with netplay, so doing the same might resolve some problems.

Aristo, judging from the OP where he talks about battle.net (not bnet 2.0) and quoted a SC1 error message I think he's talking about Starcraft 1.

Oh and for the record I didn't have any of the ports you mentioned (besides 6112) open and had no problems with Blizzard downloader or playing on bnet 2.0 during the beta. But yeah if this is about SC2 he should open these ports regardless, just to be sure.

I'm beginning to think my computer is conspiring against me. I spent 20 minutes typing a reply to you and it got delete *sigh*
time to repost something that was sort of like it but more half assed.

It took me awhile to figure out what port forwarding even was but I actually had a friend help me out with it and I made a discover, the port was 6112 - 6112. I didn't know what that meant and I still don't but I switched it to 6112 - 6119 and the results are the same; I still cannot join a map and half the time I try to log on battle.net it still gives me that dreadful message.

Okay, while I was typing this my father returned home and I asked him if he did anything with the router. Apparently he found the comp downstairs (which no, I can't put Starcraft on) wasn't working as fast as it should so he got someone to reprogram the router to work faster (or something like that.)

I think what that person did might have screwed my connection to SC up or something.

Hence I have two questions -

1. Do you think that might be the problem?

And the second is this - I use a D LINK WBR - 3010 router. It's been used for quite awhile and I have indeed played Starcraft while this said router was in operation. While I checked I tried that 6112 - 6119 thing I saw a thing in the middle.

'APPLICATION NAME'

Here is the layout of the thing -
Left side are these -
Name
Starcraft

Ip address

In the middle are these -
Application Name
Computer name

On the far right are these -

Start - 6112
End - 6119

Does 'Application Name' and 'computer name' need to be readjusted?

P.S - That small message at the bottom which says I edited this three times is lying, I edited this at least seven times

Another P.S - I'm talking about SC1. My comp would probably die a slow and painful death if I even placed SC2 in the computer lol.

Hmm, on my phone at the moment so I can't get too much info out, but one question: did you put in your computer's LAN IP address into the address box?

Go to start > run > cmd and type "ipconfig" without the quotes.

Local Area Connection - IPv4 address. Put that into the ip box. Should be 192.168.1.101 or something similar (last number could be different).

App name and computer name do nothing afaik.

>be faceless void >mfw I have no face

Sounds like whoever redid your router stuffed it up big time. It also sounds like you forwarded ports correctly, so unless you have the worst possible connection in the world, it's either your router or something on your computer or you live in antarctica.

If possible, reset your router to factory configuration and go from there.

Red classic.

The router has been removed and the comp is connected straight to the internet. (I think I worded that wrong)

Still, the problem persists even without the router.

Right, I typed out a big reply explaining what the port 6112 error message actually is using a hotel metaphor, but accidentally clicked the back button on my mouse (which I NEVER use) and it's gone. I can't be bothered retyping that, sorry.

As for "connected straight to the internet", that is highly unlikely. What sort of internet connection do you have, DSL or cable or something else? Likely the connection from your ISP will be running into a DSL or cable modem, which is 95% likely to be acting as a firewall/router itself. You may have also previously had a second router in place, which generally isn't a good idea (wireless access point != router), but depending on how the router was configured that may not have been a problem. So probably what is now happening, is that you've plugged your PC into the cable/DSL modem, but the modem is still acting as a firewall for port 6112 and blocking the traffic. You need to configure port forwarding on the modem itself to solve your problem.

-Update -

According to the douche bags they fixed something to make the computer run faster and I'll have to pay an extra ten dollars monthly to play Starcraft - which is moronic. So let me repeat the situation;

They want me to pay 10 extra dollars to play a game I played back when the Router was considered 'fucked up'. Oh, and that problem they supposedly fixed, making the connection faster? Nope, now the browser doesn't even connect to websites half the time. Basically they fucked up and to get the problem fixed I might have to pay an additional ten dollars for them to Fix what they fucked up in the first damn place.

If you can prove that they didn't do their job correctly you don't have to pay anything. Not for the first "fixing" and not for reversing it. They didn't fulfill their part of the service contract.

I'm thinking it's time for drastic measures. I may have to buy a new SC CD and install it on the computer downstairs; here's my theory. So basically, they made the computer downstairs run a lot better; probably at the price of making this computer run slower. Ultimately they probably altered something which I simply have neither an understanding or control of. The reason why I have to buy a new SC is simple; my mother threw away two star craft CD cases which had the CD keys.

Basically I have 4 CD's and no CD key and soon I'm about to have 6 SC cd's and two CD keys.

*Sigh* I'm beginning to think Starcraft just hates me or it's cursed.

In the end whatever they did to this computer probably benefited the one downstairs. Who knows, I might even be able to host. I hate talking on phones and I've always been absolutely terrible with explaining things orally. Dear god, I can practically still hear the ringing of the phones echo in some dark part of my brain.

In other words I'm giving up. According to all fellow Senettes what I did should have had the problem fixed, according to friends what I did should have had it fixed, according to the router people nothing is wrong, and according to the providers I'm not getting Starcraft unless I pay an additional 10 dollars monthly. And as I said, I'm terrible with explaining things orally. Oh well, at least Blizzard will have another twenty or thirty dollars to use, hopefully for banning stupid douche bags that crash your game.

(P.S I think the 'Op Sen Crashes you' guy is some butt hurt loser that was banned from the site due to him being a prick.)

Edit - Does anyone else think that buying a new one is a wise choice?

Further edit - Installed game on other computer, problems still persist even on this one. Geez, I'm beginning to grow pessismistic on the entire ordeal.

Without knowing what the "douche bags" did, or why they are asking for $10/month extra to allow simple internet traffic through, there is nothing further we can do to help you.

There, it took five, six, or maybe even seven days but this entire ordeal is finally over. I can log into Starcraft and I think the computer upstairs isn't running as badly as it was recently. I can't exactly explained what fixed it but the problem was definitely caused on there end and the solution was found in typing five big fucking numbers. Reaaaaaaaally big numbers.

Hence to show my appreciation to Nude Raider for no reason I post an emoticon bearing his . . . thing.

:nude:

In other news we could use a Fox emoticon.

Typing 5 big numbers? How big is "big"? Into where were these numbers typed? Who typed them? Were they hex, or decimal?
