For those of you who like to boast, and for those of you who are new:
> If you are giving a strategy, please use a screenshot/replay
> You do not have to post a strategy, you may aslo comment on other peoples' strategies
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Early Harassment: Use one worker to harass the rest of the enemy workers in the beginning of a game, requires moderate micro
Blockade: put buildings in front of rannged units so that melee units can't get them, requires no micro
Harass & Pressure: In the beginning, Harass the enemy a bit then after your harassment is complete, send in some marines in to keep the pressure, moderate micro and small macro required.
Stack Attack: Send tons of stacked workers to the enemy base and destoy thier main building (CC, Hatch, Nex), alot of patience and good micro required to perfect this technique.
Elite Engineering Squad: Use worker stack to repair any severely damaged buildings/units extremely fast, great for a field technician tactic.

The sword and the faith

Um, you can't regulate this section, you aren't a moderator. Thus no one HAS to reply with a screen or replay if they don't want to. Though you can ask nicely and hope they comply.

This topic is a nice idea, its just, well you don't have the authority to make anyone participate or regulate the ways in which they do.

I only play Protoss, so I don't have any strategies for the other races. Hope this helps.

Zealot rush: As Protoss, build a gateway at the start of the game, then build zealots and attack your enemy until you win!

Infested terran rush: As Protoss, tech to Dark Archons and research Mind Control. Build 4 Protoss Dark Templar and merge them to become 2 Protoss Dark Archons. Wait until they have 150 energy each. Mind Control an enemy Zerg Drone and an enemy Terran SCV. Build a Terran Command Center with your Terran SCV. Build a Zerg Hatchery with your Zerg Drone. Morph the larva into a Zerg Drone. Build a Zerg Spawning Pool with your Zerg Drone. Morph your Zerg Hatchery into a Zerg Lair. Morph a larva into a Zerg Drone. Build a Zerg Queen's Nest with your Zerg Drone. Morph a larva into a Zerg Queen. Use some Protoss Probes to damage the Terran Command Center until it is on 1/3rd of it's health. Fly the Zerg Queen over the Terran Command Center and click on "Infest". Once you have your Zerg Infested Command Center, build Infested Terrans and use them to kill your enemy!

Shield battery rush: As Protoss, build a gateway and then build lots of pylons around the map with shield batteries next to them. Build lots of zealots and put them at the shield batteries. When the zealots are fighting enemy units, use the shield batteries to heal them so they never die! You may need to also build up to three Dragoons to help with enemy air units. Build more and more pylons and shield batteries closer to the enemy base, until you even have several shield batteries inside their base! Then, your zealots will not die. You may need to also build a scout or two (yes, sheild restore works on flying units!!!), if they get lots of air units.

Carrier rush: As Protoss, tech up to High Templar. Build 20-23 High Templar. Build 1 Carrier. Wait for all of the High Templar to get 225 energy and research and cast Hallucination on the Carrier until you have ~120 Carriers, and rush the enemy base. We only build one Carrier in this strat because gas is at a premium for High Templar, and carriers use a lot of supply and cost a lot to build interceptors.

Sorry, no screenshot, but hopefully this counts: artists impression of carrier rush

Note: these strats only works for Protoss. If you chose Random and got Zerg or Terran, or accidentally selected Zerg or Terran in the game lobby, then I suggest you quit the game as these strategies will not work for you.

I think you meant to post this in ciara's thread...

@ Lanthanide
Since I made this to be a help forum, I will post anti-strategies, in case someone in game were to use the strats on you.
Zealot Rush: Mass the fuck out of cannons (may seem noobish, but it never fails)
Infested Terran Rush: Mass the fuck out of dark templars and corsairs (can't pass through what you can't see)
Carrier Rush: It is very important that you spot the enemy building these (it is VERY HIGHLY unlikely they will use illusion) Corsairs and cannons are your best defence.

Lol. Against the carrier rush, a couple emps, storms, ensnares, plagues, would completely pwn that.

Infested Terrans can be commanded to detonate at a location - you don't need to be able to see the templars in order to kill them. Also in my strategy, the enemies were Zerg and Terran, not Protoss, so they do not have Dark Templars, sorry.

As you didn't provide any strategy against the shield batteries, I presume this means it is unstoppable. Awesome.

fine, then, mass the fuck out of ghosts or zerglings. if you have tons of lings, the enemy will waste their infasteds.

I'm going to be straight-forward.
Get serious, or get out. These are not viable strategies for Starcraft melee. If you want to contribute, then do so after you've learned the mechanics and some basic build orders.

It appears I made a mistake in my Carrier Rush strat. Hallucination costs 100 energy, not 75 like I thought. That means you need to get 30-36 high templar, not 20-23 like I said above. On the plus side, you only need 200 energy, not 225, so you don't need to wait as long, or research high templar energy upgrade!

36HT=4500 gas. Also, Hallu carriers dont attack, so the opponent can immediately tell if its a fake armada or not.

May 21 2010, 7:19 am Lanthanide Post #14

Yes, it is a gas-heavy build. That's why you only build 1 carrier, to save on gas.

If you haven't noticed yourself, by the time you get 36 templars- your opponent would have maxed out with around 50 gates or so. You would've been rolled to pancake before all that. 10 minutes tops.

Sure, the High Templars could hold off the army with psionic storm for a bit, but BeDazed is right, eventually you will be broken.

The best support for high templars are actually Dragoons/Scouts, because they will provide support for the air/ground units that are getting irritating. But I prefer to merge templars into archons instead because Archons > Storm (In resource/attack race) in my opinion. And also you can't splash your own units with splash.

I always has this idea, but strangely nobody actually knew what I was doing.

Statis with Arbiters again and again until your enemy dies from old age or actually ragequits. (A painful process in the past where old gamers had to put coal out of their computer's power unit.)

Ok, people have rightly pointed out that my carrier rush uses a lot of gas. So here's another strategy that uses less gas.

Reaver rush: As Protoss, tech up to High Templar. Build 30-36 High Templar. Build 1 Reaver. Wait for all of the High Templar to get 200 energy and research and cast Hallucination on the Reaver until you have ~120 Reavers, and rush the enemy base. We only build one Reaver in this strat because gas is at a premium for High Templar, and reaver use a lot of supply and cost a lot to build scarabs.

This strat saves resources because it costs a total of 1100 min and 800 gas to get reavers and all upgrades, vs 1200 min and 700 gas for carriers. But if you leave out the scarab and damage upgrades, the reavers only cost 700 min and 400 gas.

It is best to use this strat against Zerg or Protoss, but not Terran, because Terran have got siege tanks and they will kill your reavers due to their long range and slow movement speed of reavers as you march them from one side of the map to the other.

I don't have a screenshot, but here's an artist impression of a Zerg base moments before you use this strat and destroy it:

lol, quit trolling. Thats just as bad as the carrier tactic.

the hellu'd reavers won't shoot scarabs... so, yeah, that would be really detectable...
