Women are increasingly being employed in areas previously dominated by men. Construction is only one of them and a rising number of women are becoming a part of this workforce. From engineers to architects to skilled workers Women are finding a place that matches their skills and capabilities right alongside men. Look at this site to get breaking news about protection devices.

Despite the fact that they are traditionally male-dominated women are still faced with many of the same issues as men because of long-held workplace stereotypes and beliefs. For instance, wearing the appropriate safety equipment.

Like all construction workers being aware of workplace injuries and falls is something women workers have to be conscious of. OSHA regulations demand that employers provide safety and fall protection equipment. It's easy to forget that women need the proper-sized Protection Devices Equipment (PPE) in an industry which was historically predominantly male-dominated.

The growing Female Construction Workforce
There are more than 1,000,000 females working in the field of construction out of 10 million employees. Even more remarkable is the 40 percent of women who work in construction run their own business. This sector represents one of the areas with the highest potential that women-owned businesses can grow. The need for special Protection Devices equipment will become increasingly important as more women enter into the workforce.

Women require special ppe because of this:
The majority of Protection Devices equipment for construction workers, such as self-retractable fall protection lanyards, lifelines, safety harnesses, gloves, hard hats and goggles, are designed specifically for males. It's because the average man is much larger and taller than the average female. Women often use men's protective equipment (PPE) which isn't tight and does not provide enough protection.

In fact any piece of PPE that doesn't fit properly can become a hazard that increases the risk of injury in case of a fall, or another accident. A poorly fitting safety harness can cause falls, traps in machinery, and could even injure someone. Also, a hat that is too big may slide off, or gloves that are too large might not be able to keep you safe from contact with harmful substances.

Safety Devices Equipment is a safety Essential
As you're aware, all workers must be equipped with fall-safety devices when working at heights. If you already have it in place, that's fantastic news. But do you know if the female employees you employ are safe? They may not be covered if they share PPE with their male colleagues.

In some cases, women are attempting to alter their equipment in an attempt to make it more comfortable. However, these modifications may weaken the device, nullify it's OSHA compliance, and cause accidents more likely. Improperly fitting protective gear can create a greater challenge for women to move around and complete tasks they would normally be able to complete. For women working who work in trade and construction industries, a lack self-protection device sometimes lead to wearing none even.
