G2 Esports have signed on veteran bot-laner Martin 'Rekkles' Larsson after he left their main rivals Fnatic.

This completes G2's League of Legends LEC team for 2021 after they recently announced the departure of their fellow ADC Perkz from Cloud9.

G2's LEC roster remains largely the same and includes Wunder, Jankos and Caps along with Mikyx. Rekkles, who was a former Fnatic player Caps will now be joining G2.

The news has been floating around for some time now. Bloop from Esportmaniacos reported that Rekkles might have been looking to explore his options. Then he finally revealed that Rekkles had been signed by G2 before the announcement went live.

According to this statement on the G2 website, Rekkles made it very clear why he chose not to renew his contract at Fnatic and instead decided to join G2 during this off-season. With buyboosting, how do you find out Why G2 Might be struggling with Rekkles?

"My ambition was always to establish that I am among the most successful athletes in the game even though I have won four EU titles and the Worlds silver medal, I'm not satisfied," Rekkles said.

"This is the reason why I signed up with G2. G2 is an incredible organization and an excellent company. Achieving Worlds is as much their ultimate goal like it is for me. It was simple for me to accept their invitation join.

"I'm incredibly excited about this opportunity and to be able to see the results we could achieve."

Once considered the face of London-based org Fnatic, Rekkles' departure is truly the end of a period that saw him as well as Fnatic receive numerous awards together. Since 2012, he has been associated with Fnatic several times.

With G2's dominance over the LEC for the past two years, it appears to have changed Rekkles to the side.

"Rekkles will make his own path in this arena and I am sure that the G2ARMY will be there to help him along the path. He promised he would take home Worlds. He will. Carlos "ocelote" Rodriguez Santiago G2 owner and owner, has stated that G2 is his best option.

Fnatic fans will now wait to find out who will succeed Rekkles With the former Origen bot-laner Upset being the top contender, after the former SK Gaming player Crownshot tweeted that he would not be playing in LEC.

Rumours also point to Fnatic hiring YamatoCannon as the new Head Coach. Cloud 9 midlaner Nisqy to replace Nemesis.

There is no doubt that G2 will be the favourites to keep their lead in Europe However, whether they will be able to achieve their goal of finally winning Worlds and breaking the iron grip of the LCK and LPL the future will be seen.

Rekkles can be the winner of Worlds - but will he?

With the off-season now in full swing, it's another reminder that team rosters can change so much season to season.

Fnatic's rollercoaster splits at the LEC and their disappointing Worlds quarterfinal loss to Top Esports saw them lose an 2-0 lead before losing 3-1. It was clear that some sort of change would be made.

While I find Rekkles his departure not surprising, it is significant. This is arguably the biggest change we'll see during the off-season. Rekkles was not just an outstanding ADC for Fnatic but he was also their most popular player.

As a London-based organisation I follow Fnatic attentively. I pay attention to the way players react when they see one of their teammates being crushed by their opponent or how they bounce back from a poor performance.

Rekkles was sometimes in conflict with me and the rest of my team. The problem was not as much when they were winning however, when they faced the challenge of a tough match. Rekkles was there to assist the players when they seemed to be a bit confused or unorganized during the game.

Sometimes, he'd carry them, or show an act of skill that placed him in a different league to his teammates. I'm not saying Fnatic are bad, in any way, I'm just saying that I thought that Rekkles thought differently than his teammates and sometimes there was no unity present. Rekkles displayed patience and a the sameness that other players didn't display. This is my personal impression and my personal opinion of course.

This shift to G2 is an excellent thing for both them and Rekkles. They will feel an increased sense of security as well as an increase in confidence. Of optimism. The hope.

They hope to win the Worlds trophy. They've come so close to winning the World Cup before, making it to semi-finals and finals... this decision could be the thing that takes them there.

There is always a rookie who can become a top player, just like Rekkles. While players like G2 have improved, so will others, and they will have to keep this in their minds. The year is an extended time in esports - who knows which players will be the top performers at Worlds 2021?

In an interview, Rekkles said to me that "if you're willing to put in 110%, then you can accomplish anything."

"I've always had this competitive spirit coming from my early years playing sports, I couldn't simply play for enjoyment," he told me.

He also spoke of having an open mind, thinking out of the box, and having patience, waiting for that right moment to strike in-game as crucial elements to climbing to the top.

Rekkles has been patient for long enough , and now wants the top prize. He's got the skills to claim it, but is he really going to? Esports are anything but static even when it's just one online game. If they wish to win Worlds, G2 and Rekkles will need to demonstrate the perseverance that is unparalleled. It's exciting to see G2 and Rekkles take on.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless
[05:02 am]
Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value
[05:01 am]
Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Ultraviolet -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort
[12:51 am]
Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
