That, and this is what I speak of.

This retcon really annoys me. It was a lot more epic before. Both that, and it engages psi a lot more into the story (or at least makes psi more believable and integrated into the story).
As for the Zerg, I can see the author's points, and I can see the WarCraft art influence, but I don't quite see it so much as he does. Nevertheless, I don't particularly like the new changes either. I mean, f*ck, the Overseer is named like a f*cking idiot and the number of eyes is beyond ridiculous and sci-fi. It's... stupid.

Examine the Zerg race closer.

Theres no influence I can recall, except for all of us going 'OH GOD ITS 3D- it MUST BE INFLUENCED BY WHICH WAR3 WHICH WE ALL DESPISE'.

I hardly believe you even know what you're talking about now.

BeDazed, there is and always have been a heavy amount of Warcraft influence over Starcraft. But when Blizzard went from Warcraft 2 to Starcraft, they made whatever similarities there were very different because they knew that Starcraft had to be a very different game or people would just call it Warcraft in space. Now with Starcraft 2 there is an abundance of Warcraft influence once again but they aren't doing so much of the adaption to Starcraft as they are keeping much of it the same. Much of the units and abilities are remaining exactly the same as their Warcraft counterparts whereas from WC2 to Starcraft any skill or ability that was the same usually underwent some sort of transformation (ie: Blizzard to Psionic Storm or Invisibility to Cloaking or fire shield to irradiate). Now you have shit like the queen which in the last build was a one only unit which has special abilities that improve over time and investment, ie: a Hero. Among other things what we're seeing is a Starcraft/Warcraft hybrid instead of a sequel to Starcraft.

There are also numerous art and voice acting similarities, ie Crypt Lord -> Stalker, Crypt Fiend -> Queen, and a couple others.

If SClegacy was still up you could see an article full of them, the WC3 team isn't really trying to make SC2.

You can never be sure what its at right now they change the game from month to month. The Queen and Mothership have both been, at one time, one unit limit.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value
[2024-5-06. : 5:01 am]
Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Ultraviolet -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort

Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
