Hi, I'm planning to purchase a laptop with Core i7 Q720M , but I was wondering if that core wouldnt be compatible to starcraft, beacuse I heard that some software/programs were specifically designed for dual-core and thus might not run on the new Quadcores. Do you guys any opinions on this?

Some software runs better because it has multicore support. Starcraft has no multicore support but it does not mean you cannot play Starcraft. So purchase away!

I'm sorry, but you sir are really really really really misinformed. Do you honestly think they'd make a dual or quad CPUs if it would in turn make software incompatible? You must be really young, or know nothing about computers.
It has nothing to do with your physical hardware, it has to do with your operating system. 64bit OSes (64bit XP/Vist/W7) have problems with SC's install and patching, so you have to use a 3rd party patching tool like BWAI Downgrader.
Finally its
Core i7 not iCore 7. I'll be correcting your post and topic title.
