Does anyone know what the limit of players is on one map? I was thinking with the new galaxy editor and its epicness, and the new third person(and possible 1st), if it was possible to have more than 8 people at a time playing? I could make a map with 16 or so people at once and it would be like a 8 v 8 war game with mannable vehicles that have turrets and such. Would be epic to make something like that. I could see it now. A complete copy of blood gulch from halo, but in epic SCII form, flying a wraith like a banshee launching missiles like a retarded baby in every direction and firing spider mine grenades from a vulture while running over people, and walking around with two giant rocket firebat things melting and exploding people at the same time...*Daydreams.*

Launching huge volleys of hydra spines at anything in range whilst an ultralisk shreds a siege tank on your left and three banelings obliterate a bunker on your right?

Casting psi storm and watching your foes run to get out from under it while three dark templars wait for them in the shadows and five dragoons take on eight marines?

Commanding an air strike of battlecruisers and watching them destroy the enemy base while your siege tanks shell three hapless dragoons in the middle of the map and a ghost assassinates an enemy player?

Hell yeah! *E-Fives ImageDeo* I'm going to make the epic battle third person shooter war game! Now to put all my ideas together into one big blob of epicness to be made in the near future...muhahahahahaha! *Begins schemeing epicness of third person shooter with aircraft, vehicles, a vast variety of weapons, MAYBE EVEN DRAGOON GOLIATH HYBRIDS! /GASP*
(Hopefully there won't be a limit, and we can have 256 player battles just like MAG :D)

There's no way they'll settle for less than the WC3 12 player limit, and it wouldn't surprise me if that's what they stick with.

EDIT: Wow, Blizzard disgusts me: 8 player limit

You've gotta be kidding me, although apparently they leave extra slots for some things, like in a preview there are 16 players, most of which are observers, so perhaps these extra players can be manipulated with the editor, and the 8 player limit is for just non UMS games.

UMS limit is minimum of twelve, melee limit is 8. We can hope for UMS 16player at best. Any more is (currently) too much for internet connections. Hopefully when fibre optics are more widespread, they'll patch it higher.

Pretty sure they sure there will be 12-16, with 8 players and 4-8 observers. lemme find my source....

anyways, the map editor might be able to change players from observers to active players in UMS so a 16 player game could be possible, though this is just a theory

With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort
