I'm making a board game called Elemental Siege for my chemistry class and it is due tomorrow (12/17/2009). I've finished the development of the game board,

but I need to finish making the rules and the cards required for a good grade. This game was made so it can be fun and educating at the same time. And since I'm in a magnet program at my HS, I wonder if there is any suggestion that this game needs than what my team has finished so far.

Here are the rules.

Elemental Siege Rules
1.This game can be played with 2 – 4 players.
2.This game can either be played with 1 vs1, 2vs2, 1vs3, or 1vs1vs1vs1 (Free For All).
3.This game can be played in many modes.
1.Table Takeover – the object of the game is to take over all of the squares of the Periodic Table of Elements.
2.Transition Trap – the object of the game is to take over all of the Inner Transition metals. The player(s) who start on the right side of the table get a double move bonus.
3.4 Corners of the World – this mode can only be played in Free For All. The objective of this game is to take over the 4 corners of the periodic table.
4.Protect and Conquer – this mode can only be played with 1vs3. Three players will pick 2 element squares on the table. The first element will be surrounded by the 3 players on the sides only. The second element will be occupied by lone player. The lone player can hold 10 cards instead of ten, and can move on twice the number as shown on the dice. The objective of the game is for the three players to take over all of the Periodic table while the lone player takes over the element square taken over by the 3 players.
5.Atomic Storm – this mode can only be played with 2vs2. Two teams will pick one of two sides (left and right) of the Periodic Table, and then they will start on the corners. Each team will try to take over all of the periodic table. This game mode will end in 10 turns. Which ever team takes over the most squares win.
6.It's a Noble Gas – Every player will start at the Hydrogen square and must work their way down. Players can move horizontally. When a player reaches to a noble gas square (the eighth valence electron), they must roll a die. The number on the die must equal to the next period number down from the current row. If it's equal, the player will go down to the next row and start from the left-most square in that row. If the number higher or lower, then the player must end his/her turn. When a player gets to the Xenon square, he/she will be automatically moved to the Cesium element square. The players must skip over the inner transition metals. The only way you can move during your turn is to roll one die, and then move by the amount shown on the die. Players will not be able to share cards with one to another. Players cannot also take over squares. Players can use as much cards as they want to. Players cannot also take over squares. The first player to Radon square wins.
Natural Laws... of the board game, now written down, instead being unwritten down rules that govern everything in the universe.
4.Procedure – The players must decide who will go first, second, etc. During the beginning of your turn, you must roll 2 dice. Which ever numbers you get added together is your energy measured in Joules.
5. Law of Conservation of Energy – Due to the Law, all players will take turns rolling the dice. And after they use their cards, they will go to the bottom of the card pile.
6.Measurement – Each player can hold a certain physical quantity of cards. Up to 5 Cards.
7.Taking over a Square – In certain modes, you may choose to take over a square just by moving on them, but when you do, you lose 1 Joules of energy, if you want. When you take over a square, you put a colored game piece on it to keep track of it. To take over a square that has been taken over by another player or a different team, you may choose to pay 2 Joules of energy to take it over.
It's not finished. Yet...

I personally think it would have been more wise to finish the rules and cards before thinking up game modes. It's easy to craft game modes around your rules, but going the other way is a bit odd. Also, for "It's a Noble Gas", why go to Francium? Can you even get to Radon from Francium? How will you keep track of a square being taken over? How is the square taken over, by landing, or by moving over it? Does the energy calculate directly into movement?

4.Protect and Conquer – this mode can only be played with 1vs3. Three players will pick 2 element squares on the table. The first element will be surrounded by the 3 players on the sides only. The second element will be occupied by lone player. The objective of the game is for the three players to take over all of the Periodic table while the lone player takes over the element square taken over by the 3 players.
Also, is there any way for the 3 players to stop the one player? Seems like he could make a straight bee-line.

I'm not sure how this is going to all work out. :O I'm not sure any easy and effective way to could use to accommodate this game board to be honest.

1. Dammit I'm so stupid! Thanks for pointing out the Francium thing. It was supposed to be Cesium. Thanks Ultimo.
2. I'm updating that into the rules.
3. I forgot to put in the advantages of the lone player.
