The sword and the faith

When it comes to terrain that has to do with actual places, having to be accurate and matching a real world map, I just have a hard time doing it. I am looking for just the outline / base of the following area:
North Africa to Norway in height.
Spain to Turkey in width.
Must include UK, Ireland, and all islands within the specified area, large enough to fit 1 geyser (Nexus room not needed.) and area enough to warp in/out with a beacon.
Left, North, or South side of the map must have an area for selection/governement/wonder console that stretches from one side of the map to the other.
Guide image:

Jungle tileset, with no one dimension being smaller than 192.

I only need the outline of the countries and the islands, I'll be doing all the detailed terraining and doodading.

Couldn't you just use a diplomacy map as a template?

And if that fails. You could always isometrically terrain around a pictured mapped version of that.

None.

I'd rather someone else did it because I know I am going to fuck it up worse than Falk trying to keep religion and science separate.

um excaliber try starcraft picture maker: http://www.staredit.net/files/753/

all you do is simply load the picture and you will get your outline. from there you can isometric if you wish or finetune. its a very nice program.

I already knew about this, it cannot do the extremely accurate type of job that I'm looking for.

I did the outline for the continents.
Unfortunatly SC Picture mapper stretched it a little, so its not that accurate.
Anyway, if you like it you can use it. I didnīt make the Borders for the countries, but i can tell you what i did, so
maybe you can do it this way on your own and get a good result.

  • I colorized your Picture a little with an Image Editor, so i had all continents in black and the water in blue.
  • I opened it in sc picture mapper and made a map that looked more or less 2 Coloured.
  • Then i placed Scourges all around the Null Terrain, so i wouldnt loose the outline of the continents.
  • I opened the original Map in an Image Viewer to compare it while i work on the terain.
  • Now i placed Water with Isom Terrain all around my scourges.
  • Then i did some fine tuning with Dirt and Water so that it looked nice.
  • Because of the Scourges i could always see if i was making the Continents to big or to small.

For the Countries you could just use some more colours, while you colorize it, and do the outline with scourges again. Dont forget to take a quadratic original Image.

Well there's a lot I'm going to have to thicken/change but all things considered it's probably the best I'm going to get. Thank you.

Edit: I don't suppose you could redo this on 256x256?

Edit2: Redid it myself with your method, worked great.

There are certain accuracy sacrifices I have to make for gameplay.

Looks pretty ugly, you're going to add some variation with grass/ruin/doodads right?

Of course, that's JUST the outline. I didn't even finish the mountains and rivers. Then we get to doodads and extended. All in due time.

Either a few people in this topic are new and don't know who they're talking to or no one even looks at the terrain ladder anymore. :P

Your pieces in the terrain ladder are pretty crappy.

Thats the atlas mountains, although they dont go out that far to the right.

They are not, and I've done a lot since. Go check out Arion. Or stop being a stuck up nooby and realize if you weren't on v4 you don't even deserve any respect from anyone on this site. Go back in time and correct the mistake or man up.

Somewhat because of what Zany said, and somewhat because that's where the wonders go. Don't worry about it. A lot of the mountains are for gameplay.

You're getting bitched at for being a stuck up nub. Gb2bnet where you subhumans are welcome, because you definitely aren't on SEN. You and those like you is exactly whats wrong with v5, more so than the coding.
