What does it mean to refer to someone as a your yellow bird? I've been trying to find the true definition of that phrase ever since i heard about it but their are two conflicting definitions.
One means
Quote
a person's true love; the one person they are both externally and internally, both consciously and subconsciously attached to with the realization that those feelings will never die; the one person that they know they can't live without
Quote
To see a yellow bird in your dream, foretells good luck in financial affairs, but not so good in affairs of the heart. To see a yellow bird land on you, denotes misfortune. To see a dead or sick yellow bird, foretells disaster in your affairs.
I started to think about this after I was listening to some Bright Eyes. He talks about a yellow bird in a lot of his songs, and from what I can tell it means that a yellow bird is the love of your life. BUT.
Quote
"And I'm glad you got away but I'm still stuck out here
My clothes are soaking wet from your brother's tears
And I never thought this life was possible
You're the yellow bird that I've been waiting for
The end of paralysis, I was a statuette
Now I'm drunk as hell on a piano bench
And when I press the keys it all gets reversed
The sound of loneliness makes me happier."
Conor Oberst often exresses his pessimistic view of life in his lyrics. To say that he'd been waiting for a yellow bird implies he'd been awaiting catastrophe.

This is from "Poison Oak" song. And no, Connor Oberst didn't come up with the yellow bird idea. It was from some 19th century jamaican poetry or something like that.
tl;dr What does that saying "Yellow bird" mean ?
None.
