It is the year 4000 CE. The flying ship is a sea-faring warship that has the appearance of a real-world, modern destroyer. It is at a high altitude. The land beneath the ship is barren. The sky above is a clear blue, with a few scattered, but pearly white clouds.
Reveal a 22-year old man, ROZEN who is at the bow of a flying, sea-faring warship, looking into the horizon. On his face is a look of determination.
Rozen looks off-camera into the distance beyond. A glassed, blackened wasteland is revealed, whose dark sky above is laced with red lightning bolts. Around the centre of the wasteland is a range of mountains, and in the very centre of that is a massive, active volcano.
The ship flies toward the wasteland. Rozen continues to gaze at the volcano.
INT. CONTROL ROOM, SAME
The control room of secret base in the volcano is well-lit by fluorescent lights and circular. There is a large, electronic display integrated into the wall. Beneath it is a long console running along the wall, operated by a myriad of MAIDS (in French maid uniforms). The console is alight with various knobs, dials, meters, and other monitors.
A female OFFICER (wearing a black military uniform) looks at a radar monitor. It shows an unidentified object coming toward the base. The officer pushes a large red button. An alarm goes off.
INT. THRONE ROOM, MOMENTS LATER
The throne room of the secret base is long and dark, lit by a single candle held in a metal stand beside the throne. The throne is at the back of the room and is occupied by a DARK KNIGHT in a full suit of armour, holding a massive sword. He wears a closed-face helmet. A crimson, carpeted walkway stretches from the foot of the throne to the double-door entrance. The same alarm from last scene is heard, muffled. On the wall behind the throne is a large, framed picture, but its contents are barely visible because of how dark the room is; two, close figures are discernible.
The dark knight runs his finger along the edge of his sword.
BLACK
EXT. VOLCANO, LATER
On the ashen slopes of the volcano, a company of maids has assembled. They are armed with dining utensils, scissors, drafting compasses (of the sort used for drawing circles), other office supplies, CDs with sharpened edges, etc. They are led by the officer, wielding a whip.
Reveal the flying ship in a crash course with the centre of the company, which scatters as the flying ship crashes into the ground. Moments before crashing, Rozen leaps from the bow of the ship, a katana held high above his head. As he lands, he cleanly, vertically cuts one of the maids in two, with sparks and electrical currents flying - the maids are actually robots!
An intense battle ensues between Rozen and the maids. Many of the maids fight at a range by throwing projectiles while Rozen is occupied by those maids in melee range.
Rozen is quickly surrounded by maids but he immediately dispatches the circle around him with one, sweeping slash. The barrage of projectiles arrive moments later, which he begins to deflect via impossibly fast swings of his katana. He holds his ground against the first stream of projectiles, but after that, a massive cascade of projectiles flies toward him. He begins to sprint across the battlefield toward the entrance of the secret base, located around the middle of the volcano, cutting swaths through the ranks of the maids while dodging the stream of thrown weapons.
Rozen is too fast for the maids to keep up. Although the try to follow, the officer raises her fist in a gesture to stop them. They halt as the officer races toward the base entrance.
EXT. ENTRANCE OF SECRET BASE, MOMENTS LATER
The entrance to the secret base is a massive, steel set of double doors. There is a small digit pad on the frame of it for entering in a passcode to open the doors.
CLOSE UP: DIGIT PAD
Rozen's hand reaches out to input the passcode. A moment before his hand reaches the pad, the crack of a whip is heard and the whip's tail is seen flying through the space between his hand and the pad. His hand retracts and he turns around to face his adversary, who is standing away by several metres - it is the officer, panting.
Rozen readies his katana calmly. The officer takes a step back and snarls. The fight begins.
The officer initiates by lashing out with the whip. Rozen deflects the attack with his katana before dashing forward and slashing horizontally, which she dodges by a backflip. However, Rozen keeps the pressure on by charging and swinging downwards. She avoids the slash again, this time cartwheeling to the side.
The officer straightens and readies herself again.
ANGLE: OFFICER'S POV OF WHERE ROZEN WAS
The officer is momentarily confused. When she turns around, she nearly stumbles into the tip of Rozen's katana raised to her neck. She scowls, then discards her whip far to the side. Rozen lowers his blade and leaves the officer to sit cross-legged, cross-armed, and pouting.
He walks to the digit pad and enters the code (1337). The doors open up and he rushes in. The doors close behind him.
INT. SECRET BASE, CONTINUOUS
The inside of the secret base is made of white tile floors and concrete walls, lit by fluorescent lamps. It is largely composed of branching halls.
Rozen reaches into his pocket and pulls out a photograph.
CLOSE UP: PHOTOGRAPH
In the photo are two 12-year olds, one a boy, the other a girl. They have an arm each around each other and are facing the camera with grins on their faces.
The photo is flipped to the back, revealing a hand-drawn map of the secret base. Drawn in red marker is a line going through some halls, ending in an X in the middle of a room.
Following this map, Rozen begins to run through the halls. He meets no one along the way.
INT. SECRET BASE, LATER
Rozen is at a double door. He pockets the photo/map and enters.
INT. THRONE ROOM, CONTINUOUS
The light from the halls briefly breach the darkness of the throne room, then, disappear, leaving the lone candle beside the throne as the only source of illumination.
Rozen is at one end of the crimson carpet and on the opposite end is the throne, still occupied by the dark knight. Then, the dark knight heaves himself up, wielding his sword. Rozen readies his katana in response.
A deadly duel commences.
The two rush at each other. Rozen opens with a lateral slash that the dark knight parries. He follows up with an overhead slash which the dark knight also parries. The dark knight counters with a diagonal attack that Rozen avoids by jumping back. He gives chase and attempts another diagonal slash, but Rozen springs into a somersault over his head. Whipping around, the dark knight swings his sword across and Rozen barely diverts the blade's course with his own katana. The dark knight keeps up the pressure, attacking with deadly, heavy swings. Rozen gives ground as he attempts to deflect the dark knight's assault, each time letting the dark knight's blade get closer and closer to him.
When Rozen has nearly backed into the throne, the dark knight raises his over his head and brings it down. Rozen barely avoids the blow by rolling to the side, letting the sword embed itself in the throne. As the dark knight tries to pull the sword back out, Rozen counterattacks with his own overhead slash. The dark knight halts his attempt to retrieve his sword and turns. He claps his hands together on to the flat sides of the katana, barely stopping the blade as it makes contact with his helmet, cracking it.
As Rozen and the dark knight struggle with the katana, the dark knight's helmet begins to crack in half. Slowly, the crack extends from where the katana struck it to the chin and nape. Suddenly, the helmet falls apart, revealing the dark knight to be a 22-year old woman, JILLIAN.
Rozen and Jillian continue to struggle with the katana. Finally, Jillian overcomes Rozen's strength, and she twists the katana out of Rozen's hands, which falls to the side.
The two duelists stare at each other in the candlelight, their looks of concentration slowly becoming curiosity.
Rozen reaches into his pocket, retrieves his photo, and stares at it. Meanwhile, Jillian lifts up the candle stand and walks over to the framed picture behind the throne with it.
CLOSE UP: ROZEN'S FACE
As Rozen examines his photo, he notices that the light source has moved away, looks for it off-camera, then walks off-camera toward it.
ANGLE: FRAMED PICTURE'S POV OF WHERE JILLIAN STANDS, BEHIND THE THRONE
Jillian is looking at the picture when Rozen joins her. Rozen too looks up at the picture. He looks down at his photo, then up again at the picture, then to Jillian. He nudges her for her attention and shows her the photo. They both stare at the photo then look back up to the picture.
Reveal the large, framed picture, lit up by the candle, with Rozen and Jillian side-by-side: the picture is an enlarged version of Rozen's photo.
Rozen and Jillian exchange glances with grins on their faces. They wrap their arms around each others' shoulders and gaze back up at the picture.
