I am trying change a Lair into a Command Center (visually) so when the Hatchery mutates it becomes a Command Center, but I cannot find the model variation in the data tables. With how I have it currently set up, the Hatchery mutates into a Orbital Command. I know that it is possible to set the unit model variation through triggers, but I was wondering if anyone knows how to set the Variation on a model in the Data tables, and if so where to find this option?

It doesn't sound like you want model variation for what you want. You probably want to use the morph ability (same way hatchery turns into a lair). If you only want a visual effect and not any unit change (you don't have any upgrades/units that require a command center unit) then you can change the model through the actor (triggers or data editor).

You most likely want to use the morph ability though. You can look at the hatchery to lair one as an example. You need to separate units to use it and it just swaps the units for you.

If you have any more questions or something is unclear just ask.

I think I may have phrased what I was trying slightly incorrectly. I have altered the model and appearance of the Lair to be a replica of the Command Center, so the hatchery morph ability appears to mutate into a command center. The wireframes, icons, and group icons all show as the command center but the actual in-game model is displayed as the Orbital Command. From what I have been able to find in the editor, there is no Orbital Command actual model, but rather a variation of the Command Center model. I am guessing that the Lair uses an alteration of the Hatchery, and uses the same alteration trigger for the lair and orbital command. This causes the games Command Center image to be displayed with the Orbital Command satelite dish on top. As I later have this Command Center morph into another building, using the upgrade to Orbital Command sequence, it is somewhat visually jarring when the orbital command instantly looses the satelitte to start that sequence. I was hoping there would be someway to revert the upgraded building model to a regular model, and remove this discrepency in Imagery.

Ok so the actor for the lair when created automatically applies animation group b. For the lair model this is appropriate but for the command center this is the animation group which turns it into an orbital command. To fix it simply remove the event Actor Create -> ApplyAnimGroup B from the actor (it is under the events property).

Thank you, that was exactly what I needed to do. For some reason, I also needed to change the trigger in the hatchery actor to cause the correct effect when using the morph.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort

Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
