Ok so...what I want is for my regular html webpage (suppose I can change the file type) to import text from a forum post (forums are phpBB3) This is sort of...a way to allow other members to post content without doing a php login system and shit. I know I can use a javascript code to import text from one file and display it on here, but I want to grab the text from a page...is that possible? If so, how?

Thanks, sharf - and merry christmas

If the forum post is on the same site then you can do it, though it wouldn't look good, otherwise no.

I highly recommend you look into other free web hosting services that provide scripting support, e.g. http://000webhost.com

They are both on the same host, they're both on my server. I have also found PHP code that will import code from a specified URL (anywhere on the web) and snag everything that is inbetween certain code tags (what ever tags you define) I'm just not quite sure of the syntax...mycoding expertise is not with PHP...

Sorry, by 'regular html' i thought you meant no PHP, just javascript.

I did say "I suppose I can change the file format" though that may not have been cear, I did mean I can use php, sorry. I would like to import as many functions as possible...like the avatar of the user, the name of the user, the date, the post title, and the content itself....I just don't know what kind of code I need...I have had no luck getting it to work yet. Anyone know the code I'd need?

This is EASILY doable... as you said, it's your forums, you have access to everything, you can make php scripts that access YOUR database, right?

Why? You have a login, it's the phpbb board?

phpbb probably has defined functions to get the username, parse whatever data format it uses into english-readable dates, etc. You just have to look around the code ^_^

I have absolutely no idea what you want to do, but like SENv4's core was invision. In order for me to make a new *whatever* I basically made a script called from its core and do whatever I want myself in my own script. I had access to everything from everywhere else in the core and it's functions.
You can do the same with phpbb.

Yeah...I am used to invision free...that's what I've always used. Lately I went to phpbb so I could host it myself, not have ads, etc. Thing is...I have no clue where to start I have not learned php yet and little I do know....does not help me. I don't want to work around to encorperate my login system from the forums into the website...that is more than I know to do...more than I care to know how to do, and more than I have time for...I'm hoping for a simple script that will look at a URL, and snag specific information inside certain tags...this way if someone posts in say, a news forum, I have phpbb's built in "newest post" so I can have the same URL for the newest post, and then grab the info and display it. If there is a relativey easy way to encorperate their login with my website for simple input fields...and someone can either help me learn it and make it work, or can direct me to a good tutorial, I'll be perfectly willing to try that.

Thanks, sharf

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort
