I just watched a gameplay trailer on Halo Wars, the Halo RTS game.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvLXCalUxa0
When i first heard of this i thought it wpuld be the stupidest thing ever. I have to say the graphics on this is awsome, but it does look kinda dumb. Especially that its for 360... RTS games belong on the computer. It reminds me of SC 2 and Empire at War, which will probably both be better games.

I dont think that it would work to well seeing how in the halo games the marines are so few, and i dont think it would work too well. Its kinda like RTS starwars games like Force Commander and Empire at War where the rebels all the sudden have all these units, when in the movies 10 X-wings was all they had. Anyway it would seem that the story and gameplay would get repeditive.... I think halo should probably stay a FPS

But i have to say when ever i play halo 2 i think of how kick ass of a total conversion it would make for starcraft, but it would take a loooonng time... so maybe this will just have to be it.

Ill probably rent this game when it comesout sometime

Bungie knows how to make RTS games, but Microsoft doesn't know what the fuck they're doing. So you'll have a decent RTS game on an unplayable platform.

Neither Bungie nor Microsoft have anything to do with this game's development. Ensemble Studios is handling that.

Control system looks gay...micro will be difficult

BTW I think it will be a "mass warthogs and air units" game.

In that case, it will be a piece of shit worthy of the name Halo and you would be wasting your money buying it. Oh and BTW, Microsoft always has something to do with the games development. In this situation they have decided the game will be on the console in order to promote their console more.

It's not being made by Bungie by the way, Bungie just gave Ensemble Studios the right to use their Halo/Halo-like stuff.
EDIT: Oh and knowing Microsoft... they're probably ask for a release on PC a few years later to promote Windows... Probably some "Games For Windows LIVE" bullcrap again like they did for Halo 2 Vista.
EDIT2: After watching the demo, it does kind of look crappy... and also a little too imbalanced. The MAC gun, in my opinion, fires too quickly.
Oh well Starcraft 2 FTW!!!!!!!

Why the hell are they making this for a console first? RTSs are even worse on consoles than FPSs. The AI looks pretty dumb too. I know the game hasn't been released yet, but I hope it doesn't have AI like StarCraft's (seriously, marines don't just stand out in the open while they get the shit shot out of them).

I'm pretty sure that's just a burst of fire, and the Covenant will have a sorta-equivalent weapon.

I would rather have something that isn't equivalent but unique to each race, all the while maintaining balance.

What they should have done is tried for something original. They're using a basic RTS formula, and in all likelihood it will be like every other non SC RTS, underwhelming.

I would have liked more battlefield tactics and the interesting aspect of a realistic battlefield commander, and much less build harvest build.

There hasnt really been a successful console rts game has there? IMO controllers would just be too incompatable unlike a mouse. The only platform that would be good would be the Wii with its shnazzy controllers :)

Upon viewing the demonstration the graphics are pretty nice, however it looks like it lacks important traits such as microing(except for worthogs) and terrain superiority. I certainly hope they dont make this into a crappy game which only sales would depend on the title "halo" I suppose we will just have to wait and see :)

Micro intensivity is something blizzard's rts games are known for.

Isn't that how they sold the rest of the series?

It's how they sold Halo 2, but Halo CE rose from the ashes of low expectations to become a truly great game.

Halo CE is a dying community.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless
[05:02 am]
Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value
[05:01 am]
Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort
[12:51 am]
Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
