Last night I went to see "Black Moor", a local metal band. I've never seen anything so awesome.
So basically, list some of the local bands you have, and tell us if they suck or not. You can list some of your bigger ones to brag, but the point of this is to show off some bands that we probably wouldn't of hear otherwise.
Nova Scotia "Big" local bands:SloanJoel PlaskettMatt Mays
The Trews (not so proud of this one)
WintersleepApril Wine (Good, classic rock)
And our not-as famous ones that are awesome:Black Moor (very Maiden-y)
In This StyleHopefully you'll know more then two.
None.
The only good band my area has ever had:
We Still Have Paris Disbanded
Bands that are popular around here but suck:
To Kill The KingLook Alive Disbanded
I live in CR, in Prague, and the local death metal/deathgrind/grindcore scene here is ridiculously strong. I've seen a shitton of good bands live, but I can't spell most of their names, lol.
One that I remember is BBYB, but so far as I can tell, everything up on youtube with their name attached to it sort of sucks, and they were only good in concert. Other than that a whole lot of death metal bands.
Back when I lived in Virginia there were some alright local bands,
Life After Hours My friend is the lead singer, his clean singing is terribad, but I enjoyed his growling. Then there was another one, but I forgot their name, though it had something to do with trout.
I enjoy local bands though, they have lots of aggression and emotion, sometimes more so than bands that have been around for a long time. For example, Disturbed has no emotion in concert, and their stage show sucks, you might aswell listen to their CDs. Also, Dragonforce is the worst thing ever in concert, honestly it's terrible, worse than their CDs, and that's saying something. Of course, they don't compare to the bands I consider 'great', like Cannibal Corpse and Behemoth (Which have absolutely awesome concerts), but that's usually due to lack of experience.
None.
Black Moor are good, Autumnstorm were sick back in the day,
Terminator's good too.
If you're into the underground rap scene,
Hollohan's tough as fuck. His freestyle is amazing.
DissonaThey keep getting heavier.
I was actually a friend of the guitarist for a while. I bought his old guitar and an amp off of him a few years back.
None.
I think this is a band that went to my school 5 or 6 years ago.
Xanthos Their music is good, but the voice sucks so much.

Are you kidding? That band is pretty sweet in just about every way. Don't diss on vocals if you don't know anything about different styles.
Anyway, I like it. It's like a symphonic or melodic blackish Metal.
EDIT: Actually after listening to it more, It's more like Folkish Power Metal with some Black Metal influence. I really want their EP.

The Tea Party and Neverending White Lights are from my town.
The former made the music for the Prince of Persia games.
And since you, for some reason, listed big ones from your whole province, I'll one up you some more.
Sum 41, Rush, Our Lady Peace, Bedouin Soundclash, Metric. Ontario, fuck ya.
