We were messing with the front man all day. It was too fun.
The drummer messed up at the end of the bridge which through us all in to chaos for a bit.

Dayum, me gusta.

Anyhow, my friend and I are going to do a folk/general acoustic songs we like duo. I'm fairly good at guitar and can't sing, while he is competent and can sing better than me.

Fat.

OMG! -Very- good stuff there!

If you really want to make this epic, though, you should increase the length, get a bit noisy with the drum (use more high-hats) during that increased time, and of course, make it more guitar-oriented (create ambiences with effects; repeatedly smoothly stroked notes do wonders). The end should be a relatively quick return to normal, then a quick switch to ambient-mood, and a slow fade out on that.
Only lyrics that should be allowed: "spoken lyrics", no singing at all. Things like "integrated speeches" or such, but nothing following a certain rhythm, and while this goes on, of course, the music behind should be more "ambient".

We were playing fairly slow, so Grave of FFS is actually shorter than in the video.
The first bit of lyrics are always sung in a talky fashion while the second bit comes in strong with a deep to high pitch.
While I generally sing the harmony in a quiet, low tone opera style, we did not have a second microphone stand ready.

Grave of FFS is part one of a two part song. We have been talking about the second part for awhile now, and, yes, it is heavily guitar-oriented as opposed to the piano and keys.
I will be sure to mention your suggestions when we get around to writing it, but I am sure Anthony (front man) will have something else in mind. He seems to take our ideas and twist them into something dark all the time.

IN THE MEAN TIME:

For some reason both guitarist had it in their minds to change the ending..
Also, the drummer was not doing some of the fills.

Edit: -And, another..

Just a bad combination of the day still being earlier, and someone forgetting to turn off night-shot on the camera.

ah lol I see.

It just looked so out of place. I always picture bandrooms as dark and dusky, smoke filled comfortable hovels where the music is created, and things discussed. guess I was into Nirvana.

Gone.

No, that is the room over (AKA, the 'idea room'). This room has windows, that room has a couch.

What I mean by "spoken lyrics":

Quote from http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/35673/
...prepared in innocence to meet our king of glory
and so we have this
you have it in your secret windows
and you're understanding to understand it and to bring it forth
it takes minute detail
it takes a holy life
it takes emotions
it takes dedication
it takes dedication
it takes a death
and only god can allow it
and you couldn't do it if you're not the seed of god
and so the path through the great corridors
these are corridors unto his perfection
that is which the prophet and the oarman summoned has penetrated
that through this great sea of blackness
that i penetrated through these corridors
and i went through that last segment
where i went through these dark serpentines
i passed through that corridor
where they sat
where they are
and when you penetrate to the most high god
you will believe you are mad
you will believe you've gone insane
but i tell you if you follow the secret window
and you die to the ego nature
you will penetrate this darkness
oh yes there's many a man or woman
that's been put in the insane asylum
when this has happened to them
and they're sitting there today, people think they're insane
but they saw something that's real
and they see it when they're on drugs
the only thing is they see it
not through the light of god, and the way i show you
i show you to see it through the light of god
and the understanding of god
because when you see the face of god you will die
and there will be nothing left of you
except the god-man, the god-woman
the heavenly man, the heavenly woman
the heavenly child
there will be terror under this day of night
there will be a song of jubilee waiting for your king
there will be nothing you will be looking for in this world
except for your god
this is all a dream
a dream in death

and so i went through that window
and the tower of hell and the great serpentines of the highest order
and i went through that when i showed you chart #3
the question is asked and learned and someone who....

And here is the epicness that follows this song (but sound's quality is bad on YT :( ):

The album containing those 2 songs is a master-piece. <3

Very cool, but I disagree with payne's analysis. You should use -lighter- drum hits, mezzo piano instead of mezzo forte. It would probably be ok for the drum to accent 1 and 4 (you're using 6 count phrases right? if its in 3 then accenting the downbeat is fine but I'm feeling 6). He's accenting 4 in a 6 count phrase right now, you could try accenting 1 at some points too, or change the accents to 3 6 or 2 5 also just to change things up a little bit. If you don't like it, change it back. The drum should sound light to complement the smoothness of the other sounds, not heavy like it currently is because there's no reason for contrast in that section.

Edit:
You guys have no dynamics. The drums are at mezzo forte the entire time and the guitars are at medium and mezzo piano the whole song. It's a great start, but add a build up in there somewhere, then the drums can get loud like payne suggested when it makes sense to help build up the dynamics, then suddenly get quiet as the music comes back down. You could also try transposing the music into a different dissonant chord for one section, it would probably sound really cool and help change it up a bit. You guys basically are playing the same thing for 4 and a half minutes. Add a new guitar lick to layer in there at some point, maybe have a crescendo and add it in there.

Very cool though; and it makes a great viennese waltz!

Uselessly noisy drum, and if at least the bassist could get her feet tapping at the rhythm of the music: she just doesn't seems into it at all. :/

Seeing bands playing as bands is ridiculous. xD
My friends I've tried jamming, despite none of us knowing how to play at all ... We usually end up just making a whole mess of noise and yelling and eventually lots of anger ensues.

... But then our drummer moved away to Boston. :-( He was the only competent one. (Though he did said playing with us was loads more fun than playing with the people there who actually know what they were doing :P )

Surprisingly, that whole mess of noise was pretty fun to listen to. I guess I just got use to listening to too many jamming sessions.

All that continuous squealing and feedback throughout the whole thing was me. :P They had me stand right in front of the stack of amps (we were in a really tiny basement room, and the drums filled up like 70% of it).

This notebook sucks. Well, it does capture awesome video, but not so much for sound.

Funny thing, during sound check, I started playing marco polo with the audience. Here at the end of the show, they brought it back.
