Everyone loves their OS, and thinks anyone who uses any other OS is an idiot, right? Now, do not mistake this thread for a comparison of the OSes. This is your chance to go bash any OS that isn't yours!
Let the flamewar begin!

I'll start. I use Mac OS X, the greatest OS on the planet! Its sleek, elegant design, excellent security, ease of use, and powerful tools make it infinitely better than all the competition!

OS X is made by Apple, a company world-renowned for the beauty of their products. OS X is simply beautiful, as is the hardware it runs on.
Windows security is notoriously crappy. A Windows fanboy will tell you that it's the biggest target, so people target it the most. Wrong answer. OS X's UNIX base makes it practically impossible to hack into. There has never been a virus written for a Mac, even when a $50,000 reward was offered for whoever could write one. (offered by Macworld)
OS X is renowned for its UI. From the dock to Expose (just pretend there's an accent on that. I don't know how to add it in Windows, which is what I'm writing this on), the Finder to Spotlight, Macs function as an extension of your own mind, allowing you to easily perform complicated tasks. Windows is still far behind in its UI, and Ubuntu, the supposedly easy to use Linux, falls behind even Windows.
Apple's iLife makes it easy to create beautiful movies, images, and manage music. And Apple's iWork allows you to create exactly the same things you can with MS Office, but without worrying about the program crashing or trying to find the function you need. Windows comes with what, Paint? Movie Maker? If you think these apps are good, you need to try iPhoto and iMovie.

OS X: Beautiful, elegant, powerful. It enables you to do things that are impossible on any other platform, all without worrying about viruses, crashes, or, really, anything. It is the only choice for anyone who wants to get the most out of their computer.

That it did. And you can't say anything nice about Macs here.

Why not? Fine, I'll just bash Windows.

I'll take you up on this one.

My extent of experience with the Mac UI is as follows: "Oh I'll right click on this to do.. WAIT WTF WHY IS THERE ONLY ONE BUTTON ON MOUSE?"

Not bashing Macs, but I find it hard to believe that its UI is so vastly superior. Windows UI is just fine, thank you very much.

There is a right mouse button. Just lift up your left finger and right-click away.

And you're coming from a right-click world. You can do just as much as you can with a right-click as you can without one. Mac mice have four buttons and a scroll-ball.

That is only because you grew with a two click windows environment, don't you think?
Who said computers MUST have a two click mouse? Who said we have to use a mouse at all?

Oh and I voted for the blank options in the poll cause it's fun!
I sure hope this doesn't turn into a flamewar seeing that such thing was your intention.

fuck you all

My point was that a UI that functions "as an extension of your own mind" should be a little more intuitive than that, even to someone like me who has grown up with the two-button mouse scheme. Separate, equally good control schemes I accept. But vastly better? I haven't seen any evidence.

It is intuitive, as there is a right click.

Every Mac I have used has had a mouse with only one button.

Oh yeah, that's BS imo, in my experience I found programs for mac far more complicated than windows ones, in terms of getting them without reading the help, then again garage band might have just been a bitch :P

You're talking about the Apple apps? Strange, because all of them are much easier to use imo. And in the opinions of almost all reviewers.

At battlekruser: These the mice you uses?

Linux Ubuntu, Puppy Linux. Win XP for gaming. Macs are good for art, Win is good for gaming, and Linux is good for everything else.

Windows has compatibility with more peripherals and software.

You aren't limited in hardware choices with windows.

You can do just about everything in the save dialog box as you can in the the actual windows explorer. Mac's can't.

Mac users usually have some form of windows that they can boot into to play popular pc games. Windows users never need to boot mac to run an application that they want.

And mac's do have viruses. It's just that since such an insignificant amount of people use them, there is no motivation to create them. It has nothing to do with the software engineering behind that Mac OS.

I actually see that as an advantage, the posibility of having both, windows and os x/leopard/whatever. I've yet to see if anyone can boot os x on a pc. I am honestly not aware if it's possible.

Win XP I guess, I suppose I only like Windows because it's superior to Mac for gaming, which is what really I want, along with easy surfing.

Mighty Mice: They're more expensive than the ones that came with Macs until they became the default, so mostly no one has them.

"Linux (specify kernel in post)" Linux is the kernel.

I have a laptop with Windows 7, and PC with Tiny XP, and another PC with Ubuntu.

They dropped this idea. I wouldn't of liked the one click function, I don't think. But for laptops, it's CTRL+Click, not right click. Which gets annoying. But that's not the OS< that's just the Mac book.
