I have not seen any musical contest around here and know there are a few musicians around so...
Why not have a small competition!
Some of us play music by ear, others by sheet music. So I'll try to make some things fair.
The theme for the composition I was going to say summer related. But I'd love for all to expands their imagination as well. oh and don't forget voice as well, you can compose lyrics about rain!
Theme is Rain
It can be music set to rain clouds being cleared from the sky, to rain forming a storm, music while rain is falling.
This picture seems can go into many directions as to a set emotion in a piece. The piece should move from there being rain to something else, or say on the same idea. I think having a theme may make this a bit more of a challenge. good luck.
Due Date: Aug. 20th
Rules for Participation
1. Only one composition may be submitter, whether its just a sound file or a video.
2. Must have to do with the main theme.
3. If it is a recording off an electric instrument, (digital piano, electric guitar, electric drumset, ect.) it will be aloud. Computer programs allowed.
4. Try to have some melody planned planned out rather than just a random improvisation, this is a music composition contest.
5. If you are able to write your piece down on staff paper, please do so.
6. Just as sen rules, please have respect for others.
Here are some rules for now. I'll have a little suggestion list at bottom since they'll act more of a guideline than rules. I've also been thinking to make this less of a contest and more of a contribute to our community. I hope all entries do have some harmonical structure in it, rather than just noise. After this is done, I'll probly place the files all into one download folder and let the winner be on track 01, plus advertise for him/her through my signature or something. Anyways, enjoy writing music whether its in your head or on paper. Due date is by August.20th.
Suggestion:
A. Stay within or below 5 minutes of recording
B. Make recording as best as possible
C. Give it a motive or a theme
D. If theme repeats, embellish or variate the theme on repeat
Judging
Provide a little description of your piece as well. please.
Also because there might be a variety of different genres of music, I'd like two more judges to join me. Preferably two who aren't participating here and who have ears for anything. We might be having classical, jazz, metal, voice. So yeah. PM or Post here if you'd like to join in judging. I'll let the community participate in judging as well on a different scale of judging. And though I have not planned out exactly how to judge, you can all start composing while me and any additional judges think of a way. gl.
