Actually, I believe it should have been announced earlier (due to the fact that there isn't much content)
As much as I know the boycotters are butt hurt about not getting free things and things the way they want it, Valve doesn't care. You have to look through the eyes of the company and whats best for the company. Oh and I'm not the one that buys EVERYTHING (map packs and such) for a game unless I truly enjoy the game.
And you boycotters should get over yourselves. You can either buy the game or stop complaining because Valve isn't going to be like "Oh wow! These people deserve new maps, new characters, new classes, new sounds, new game modes, and much more all for free!"
And not everyone got the class updates on TF2, fyi.
First off, what you wrote describes that you do not know Valve.
If Valve doesn't care, then why do they distribute free additional content for Team Fortress 2? Or most importantly, why did they make Steam and have occasional temporary price drops? And butt hurt? Right, because insults does nothing, that shouldn't even be part of your argument. Since Valve is known for having expansions for Half Life games, not half assed sequels, this does in fact hurt the company.
"You can either buy the game or stop complaining". Um, what?
About the class updates on Team Fortress 2, they are still free, only earned. And since I'm sure that players are required to have Steam to play Team Fortress 2 online, everybody SHOULD have all of the new Team Fortress 2 maps, or featured user made maps if they play Team Fortress 2. If Steam requires all users to install the latest patch to play online, then they all have the free maps. Hell, even during the release of the class updates, they allow players to play Team Fortress 2 for free in a free weekend.
Gabe Newell promised free additional content for Left 4 Dead such as additional weapons, campaigns, characters. Where did that end up? A full priced sequel.
Like what BiOAtK said: You don't play many Valve games, do you Fierce?
None.
