yo this map seems really sweet, although i'd suggest that you protect it in some way. We don't want another Helm's deep v. arrannacar with like, 15 versions that are all the same just cause some punks want to op some unit.

With OSMap released, protecting a map is just symbolic :flamer:

Edit: Oh, on-topic, looks pretty cool Ex. If you manage to balance it well, then it should prove to be a pretty fun battle map.

Ex, your terrain by itself it a piece of art. I love how you used the creep to add to it, too. I cannot wait, basically, for this map to come out. Looks amazing!

Yeah, the terrain is great, sorry for the late reply on this Ex, been out all day and the usual stuff 'round home.

Now, do some triggering, and you'll make Lingie happy.

I really do hope you finish this... as with all the other amazing RPG ideas here.

!! Discussion of map name! "The Last Days of Arion" isn't the BEST name.. It's not bad but I think you can do better XD.. judging from your subfactions info... :) .. also "Hero of Old" is .... well.. I mean.. At the time of the ancient battle, they weren't necessarily Old... :S...

some questions: How does the game work? Are we all part of Arion? and we try to survive against all the Reich subfactions? .. I'm guessing that's what happens..
How does the events work? Do they happen w/o you being there? If so, that's awesome..... but what incentives are there for us to NOT be at the event? I mean, if we're just wondering around, following paths and stuff.. why wouldn't we go to the event.. if nothing else is happening :O...

None.

"The Last Days of Arion" isn't the BEST name..
I have a few other ideas. It isn't final.

Quote from UnholyUrine
"Hero of Old" is .... well.. I mean.. At the time of the ancient battle, they weren't necessarily Old... :S...
Its 100 years later, they are indeed old now.

Quote from UnholyUrine
some questions: How does the game work?
Its LOTR style. Meaning you are given a spawn every x amount of time based on how many castles you've built. Arbiters are used to move large armies.

Quote from UnholyUrine
Are we all part of Arion?
Arion is Arion. The Forgotten are The Forgotten. Look at the factions man.

Quote from UnholyUrine
and we try to survive against all the Reich subfactions?
The Reich is not a subfaction. The subfactions make up the main factions. Re-read everything and maybe you'll get it.

Quote from UnholyUrine
How does the events work? Do they happen w/o you being there?
The conditions for the events are listed right there. Do you only read half of every sentence or something man?

Quote from UnholyUrine
I mean, if we're just wondering around, following paths and stuff.. why wouldn't we go to the event.. if nothing else is happening :O...
This isn't an RPG you aren't wandering around anywhere. All locations are very large and clearly designated with very little room inbetween.

Go play Battle Of Raccoon City and Kerrigan's Fall From Grace and you may then understand how the map works.

Looks Promising
Story So Far Pretty good still needs a little more detail though

Orange = Error
Yellow = Correct Spelling (correct me if I'm wrong[Canadian spelling ftl XD])

Red = Not Epic Enough
Green = Perfect Line

Quote
Story:
(Work in progress.)
When time was set in motion by the gods to impose order on our world, a failsafe (fail safe was set in motion). Should the continuation of time be disrupted it would reset to it's starting state, rewinding the world back with it.

Thousands of years later, the embodiment of evil himself, Fernal
, who had killed a god, had gained the ability to exist outside of the law of time (Cliche but still well done). He extended this ability to his minions, and was prepared to rewind the world, that he and his minions may have reign of the world, unopposed. However, The Arion Nation and the Heroes Of Old stopped his plot. The First War ended in Arion's favor, with the help of their allies who's names have long been forgotten, as Arion is an arrogant nation with no love for friends they no longer needed. However, although the war was won, being that he had killed a god, Fernal could not be killed by the mortal men who had defeated his army. Instead he was sealed on The Lonely Island where the hands of his servants could not reach him.
Code
(Excellent plot twist - leaves lots of room for storyline)

All remained peaceful while Fernal's Reich sat in the shadows licking their wounds (A little strange but i guess its ok). Arion saw no reason to pursue the underlings now that Fernal was sealed. The Forgotten knew however that the day would come when the remaining evils would seek to release their leader. The Heroes Of Old as they aged remembered this fight and that they would once again be called upon. Some died, and others lived to see the day.
Code
(Perfect clincher to make us remember the map :D)

Ex, that's a hot extended staircase. Nice work.

If this is for the last stand contest, I like the different approach to the RPG; most of the other ones are more "standard" as in you control a hero that wanders the land killing zerglings and other stuff.

Do people not understand that this isn't an RPG?

Apparently no one has played an LOTR map, not even Kerrigan's Fall From Grace which is a Bnet legend.

Edit: Also I'm redoing the story soon.

I really hate quoting everything again.. but it's ezier this way :P
Anything that I didn't write about are the things that I agree with.

Quote from UnholyUrine
some questions: How does the game work?
Its LOTR style. Meaning you are given a spawn every x amount of time based on how many castles you've built. Arbiters are used to move large armies.
This was the reason why I asked the following questions.. You had all these Heroes lined up for these different factions and subfactions. So are we playing JUST Arion fighting against the Reich's subfactions or are we versing each other playing AS the heroes of different factions.

Quote
Arion is Arion. The Forgotten are The Forgotten. Look at the factions man.
Read above. And to be sure, I read all of it the first time I posted.

Quote
Quote from UnholyUrine

The Reich is not a subfaction. The subfactions make up the main factions. Re-read everything and maybe you'll get it.
The Reich's .. notice the subfactionS .. Sorry if I made a typo, but if you weren't clear, then you weren't clear.

The two "quotes" in which you've seperated are tied in together. The first question isn't a question by itself, rather it opens up the questions I had later on.. which u have all answered in your first "quote reply" (read above)

It is YOUR problem if your thread was NOT clear. Judging that I'm in University and not an international student, my english is above average, and I have read (almost :P) all of your first post before replying. (disclaimer: understand that I like to act immature in the most unprecedented places at the most unprecedented times ... so don't judge my intellect on that either.. I'm no kid fooling around... I'm an adult pretending to be :)) Don't judge my response, rather think why I'm asking these questions... Don't argue for the sake of argument.

The question you STILL haven't answered is whether players all play as Arion or different players play as the different factions/subfactions.. judging from the LOTR style thing.. it's probably the latter..

Other than that, as I've said before, the story is captivating.. and it'd be fun to see something innovative :O...
Shiz has a point that this may not fit well with "RPG" .. which you may have to be careful with. War (siege) maps.. LOTR maps... and Aos maps are all NOT RPGs... Even though u may have an amazing story.. doesn't make the map an RPG...
But yeah.. I should play that map that you told me to play before saying so much :S

Anyway... your first screenie = Holy shit fap fap fap

Unholy, maybe you shoulda had ex do some terraining for TS. it's MADcool (lolznewword). Also, I personally am opposed to LOTRish maps since I fail at them, but this looks cool. Just do me a favor and don't make any air heroes. The only good LOTTishes are ones with no air heroes where the armies actually can do something.

The sword and the faith

There will be air heroes but I am going to balance them.

One of the things I hated about Kerrigan's Fall From Grace were the terrain and unit placement abuses. Using the siege tank to hit Kerrigan's defenses from the Xelnaga Temple, using Artanis + recall to hit the Cerebrate's little place in the corner. Those sort of things were not meant to happen, and if I do this correctly, they wont.

The sword and the faith

Production resumed.

I'm going to be re-doing the map from scratch again. Here's a new map I made of Arion, which should give you a good idea of what things are going to look like:

I'll be rewriting most of the lore to make it less generic/silly/ect.

This also signals the end of D:E production until I feel like finishing 1.00. My full attention is on finishing Arion.

The terrain looks really nice, the the layout looks interesting.

Sadly I don't play LOTR maps, so I can't really judge anything else.
