So, my laptop sure picked a wrong time to not start.
All I get is an unreadable blue screen of death, as in, it goes away too fast to actually be read.
Then it restarts and it asks if I wanna start up in normal windows or in automatic repair mode.
If I select normal windows I just get the blue screen of death again.
If I select automatic repair mode it fails. The error given is this:

Note that the error was in spanish so I tried to translate.
Even if I have this desktop it's pretty arcaic and I can't work on it. MAX just doesn't even start cause of lack of memory and even if it did, all my files are in the laptop and I don't think I'll be repeating a 7 day work plus the work I still have to do in 3 days.
The last program I installed is AVG Free 8.5. It has given me net issues before so I uninstalled but yesterday I installed it again to scan my computer.
On another note my laptop was heating more than usual even with the cooling fan on it, which I thought it was pretty weird seeing how it wasn't even on high performance mode.
fuck you all
Sounds like the Conficker Worm.
None.
If you get the
UBCD, you can boot off of that and at least get your files off of it, I think your OS may be permanently messed up though

uh oh... I might start considering failing this class then
Will that help me get rid of the program or just retrieve files?
fuck you all
dban -> reinstall windoze
use linux to get the files off.

You guys don't get it.
I need it up START UP not to get the files. Even if I got the files I'd be like a dog that caught up a car. I wouldn't be able to drive it.

It may also help get rid of it, since it also has many other tools such as spyware and virus scanners built-in, but it sounds like your OS has had some permanent damage done to it, try the Windows Repair option on the XP installation CD.

I'm on Vista.
Also, I clicked on advanced recovery options when the automatic repair failed. Nothing worked byt there's some Recovery crap (32 bits) that gave me a gay HP care center or whatever and it's saying it will restore to factory defaults.
Does that mean I will lose all my files? If so I'll retrieve the files I need and then go ahead.
Also, what about the mighty windows vista recovery thingy. Should I try to dl the 120MB iso or is it just a waste of time?

Yeah, I would just get your files off with Linux or UBCD and then reformat, the Windows Recovery rarely works..

Well, it works when things are corrupted or some sort of driver issue happens, but it doesn't fix virus damage or anything like that, and since he already has a built-in recovery it'll be easy for him to reformat.

Well, that HP "Restore to Factory Default" thing you were talking about reformats the harddrive and puts everything on it that was on it when you first got it.

Relatively ancient and inactive
And mine.
. I remember when Windows just crashed and I had no idea what I did, and nothing worked, but I did some restore to previous date in safe mode, and it worked. Like magic.
