As you may know, I was signed up for this 2009 Contest with Oo.HavoK.oO. Unfortunately, he has jumped ship, and now I'm left alone to win the bloody contest. I'm asking for anyone who has experience with most of the aspects of map making.
Things that would be included and required are as follows:
- Terrain Blending
- Extensive Trigger Theory (I have started and will continue to use many advanced concepts, some of them which haven't been used before. In order for me to teach you these, you must have extended knowledge about triggers, AI scripts, locations, and more.)
- Creativity
- Organization
- Ability to meet a deadline (I'm planning on Jam-Packing this map, so there will be many pieces that we will need to cover)
- Visualization Abilities are needed for many of the effects used in this map. Not just spells, but buildings, actual unit-conglomerates (Yes, there will be a few units composed of several units used in conjunction.)
- And of Course, one HELL of a personality. There will be a ton of hours put into this project, but I can most certainly garuntee you - It will be worth it. However, we will be seeing eachother over and over, and I'm almost positive that there will be conflicts of ideas- as to balancing, spells, storyline (I have one all worked out, but it's definately open for tweaking), and many other aspects of the map. You're going to need your sense of humor, or you will lose your sense of sanity.
If you're not interested thus far, think about an RPG of this magnitude. I mean, c'mon, lets get real here - you never see a ... "Full - Value" RPG, Correct? There's always something wrong with an RPG, because lets face it: No RPG out there so far has that quintissential value, that epic feel, that incredible taste... And yet, this is your chance to be the first one to put that "Ever-lasting RPG" Out there!. If you're not in it for the Pride of being one of the makers for the ULTIMATE RPG, then at least you can be in it for the creation of something that will match your vision of the best damn RPG in the history of StarCraft.
Some of you that are reading this think that SC2 will come out soon, and everyone will dissipate away from SC1, and the RPG will be rendered pointless. Well,
Where you see a closed door, I see a window of Opportunity.
Think about it ; This RPG will be so well made, that it is Destined to have that last shattering pulse of any SC1 mapping that is left on Battle.Net. There will ALWAYS be people who will not transition to SC2, because they may just not like it, or they may not be able to play it due to technicalities, cost issues, and whatnot. Granted, SC1 will suffer a HUGE loss in population, but there will always be people playing UMS.
Thats the thing : UMS will always have players, no matter what. The reason why UMS has lived all of these years in the history of SC is the fact that it's flexible. It evolves with the players who forge the maps with the anvil of terrain, the hammer of triggers, and the iron + steel of unit stats and balance, all within the Forgery of the Imagination. The possibilities of games is limited to the powers of the mind! That being said, UMS will always retain players enough to host enough games to keep ANY style UMS player (Be it a Defense player, Invasion game, Massers, LOTRish, Arena game, and whatnot) active for years to come. Our RPG will keep these RPG players begging on their hands and knees for more.
In taking, I ask you for the powers of your mind to create this magnificent work of art. Scared of the competition? I spit in its face. Crescent Dyne? Teberous RPG? DIablo? These are nothing compared to the vision I have, and maybe we can transform my vision and your vision into reality. C'mon, lets put the Star Edit Network Motto to the test, and lets "Push Map Making to the limit. Let's rock both Battle.Net and StarEdit.Net to the very core, and let's make one hell of a game.
It'll be one hell of a ride, and I look forward to meeting with you, arguing with you, discussing with you, and creating with you the most elaborate, fantastic, gripping, and epic Role Playing Game ever.
Afterall, We wouldn't want to lose the 2009 competition, now would we? Hahahahaah!
