Version 2.3b Changelist - Internal format

This is the current changelist off the top of my head for the upcoming 2.3 update. The internal version is version B.

- Parts of the AO Aiscript have been updated. It is now less aggressive early on. Onslaught State has been somewhat fixed. The AI is a bit more stable as well, and should be able to withstand cheesy rushes from 6 of Baja's terran AI. It's still broken, however - it refuses to expand for example.
- Baja's terran AI has been duct taped to utilize other terran units, including battlecruisers. My changes are only temporary - I'll request him to build a more refined script in the future. I'm going to look into the possibility of allowing the terran AI to somehow building siege tanks ect from its barracks' without needing to use new unit slots. Maybe possible. Maybe not. In any case, the terrans need these units to hope to survive past tier 1.

- Gave the Madness Titan his intended air attack. Removed Berserk. He is currently bugged, probably an oversight.
- Improved the damage of many Armageddon AoE attacks, including all shockwave abilities.
- Armageddon no longer upgrades as the game progresses.
- New graphics for the Juggernaut and Salvation.
- New sound effects.
- The Doom Dragon is now enabled. The Doom Dragon is a flying Tier 7 Legendary with an extremely powerful ranged attack.
- Glooms no longer cloak units around them.

Near future changes planned -

- Enable the Thane. The Thane is an upgrade for Thunderers. Essentially the new lurker. Thanes possess a potent lightning attack when energized.
- Enable Zeus. Zeus will have a ranged attack that encourages micro. Zeus is a Tier 8 legendary.
- Spirit bomb for Gaze of Vanity.
- Clean up some code of the existing units to try to save as much iscript space as possible. Investigate if it's possible to use calls and returns inside icecc or not.
- Finish enabling the Purgatory. AFAIK all of its weapons are ready to go. It just needs a graphic.
- Make all Armageddon structures airborn, reduce their armor. This is to reduce base clutter so Armageddon units stop getting trapped. The AI will end up stacking its structures. I don't care anymore.

- I am aware the limit expander causes crashes. I just don't care. I'm not producing this for the public. I'm producing it for myself. It will be released as-is.

The Purgatory is functional. Thane is operational.

Purgatory - Tier 4

Complimenting the Juggernaut and the Salvation in the forward demon fleet is the Purgatory heavy cruiser. While less durable than a Juggernaut and shorter ranged than a Salvation, the Purgatory is a fearsome warship dedicated to anti-capital roles. At moderate range, the Purgatory engages with high-powered energized torpedoes. These projectiles will deal moderate damage in a small area of effect. In close range, the Purgatory also engages with a rapid-fire gatling cannon that fires in volleys of 3. Although the effectiveness of these weapons is less so against ground targets, incurring a larger cooldown, they are deadly against air targets.

Thane - Tier 7

Ascending from the ranks of mere Thunderers, who simply use their powers over energy for relatively simple mischief, the Thane is a powerful being dedicated to the destruction of mortal races. When he spots a target he likes he'll turn into pure energy, requiring you to bring advanced sensors nearby to determine his true position. In this state his power is highly erratic and dangerous, easily capable of destroying man and machine within moments of contact. Very few Protoss can withstand the psionic power of a Thane.

Excellent video as usual. That is dedication! But I thought AO was about monsters? This seems like footage for ITAS. Nonetheless very cool. Look forward to the new eye candy and spell effects.

Fuck yes.

I look forward to testing this (Area-cloaking glooms were annoying as shit, and the new units look awesome), once you release the next downloadable version. :D

Also, sexy cinematics so far; I think that you convey the sense of scale fairly well when the dreadnought has weapons systems that are as big as its support frigates, which are in turn almost as big as that huge-ass temple. In short, not something you want to fuck with.

PS what's the swirly-spinny thing in the background?

That's a Gate facility, the size of a planet. It's what Armageddon uses to breach the barriers between reality to lay siege to mortal dimensions. The scene takes place within Hell.

But there will be other scenes.

Additionally, with the new timings, AO is actually beatable. HKS and I scored the first legit victory against AO earlier today. An hour-long game with mixed Terran and Protoss computer allies. Armageddon fought with everything but Thanes which it's refusing to build along with Duriel. But there were many ships, and many epic back and forth battles.

New changes -

- More timing changes for AO. The AI is now beatable. There is some problems still in translating from tier 1 to tier 2 and tier 4 to tier 5. I have scored two legitimate victories against AO.
- Reduced the number of buildings Armageddon creates.
- Dramatically reduced armor on Armageddon structures. Boosted the health of Onslaught Drones.
- The Thane is now functional, but the AI is refusing to create it. I need Baja to answer my PM to see if there's some sort of problem with the Lurker I am unaware of (The lurker is pretty hardcoded as it is). I may need to change how the Thane works.
- Fixed a problem with the Madness Titan that was introduced before. Now the Madness Titan uses his flame attack to attack air and doesn't break after doing so.
- Attempted to get the AI to expand but it's refusing to do so.
- Attempted to get the AI to create Duriel but it's refusing to do so. What's so hard about getting a zergling? :\
- The new Onslaught State code is fully functional, save not producing the Thane and Duriel.
- The Purgatory is fully functional with all sounds and weapons working perfectly. The Demon Fleet will crush the weak.

Future plans -


- Designed the concept for the Fallen Hero inside my head.
- Realized I have a lot more free sprites than I first thought. Will attempt to expand unit list even further.
- Prepare Zeus for adding.
- Planned out a new unit - the Dark Raven. The Dark Raven is an assault helicopter developed by the Seventh Circle used to disable and destroy enemy surface resistance. It will have a random chance to lockdown enemy units and is primarily an anti-ground unit. I have the graphic ready and waiting.
- Planned out the Damnation's projectile. Will require testing to be sure certain aspects will work.
- Reduce movement speed of Shards of Darkness.
- Figure out something for the Greater Horror.


Major upcomings -

- I need several new units. Preferably smaller ones, air and land, that don't demand serious iscript enhancements. The problem is graphics. I don't have many that fit. I still have a few graphics that p_q renamed but some of them are a real mess in terms of alignment. Baja sent me a program he used for aligning... so I'll investigate that.
- I do not believe I can fix Syrius' teleport. I'll have to give her something different.
- I may possibly attempt to add the Great Destroyer himself.
- I need to design Mal`Ash's attack specs.
- I need to design Duriel's attack specs.


Because Growler Guncam and other recording applications have all decided to turn into useless pieces of shit and lag when recording, I cannot create ingame previews anymore.

If I tell the AI to build the units in the beginning, it will acquire Duriel (and ignore the define_max, building 3-4 of them), but it won't get Thanes. I reverted the morph protocols and set it so you could morph it from the Thunderer (Hunter Killer). Even then the AI won't build it.

I have to scrap my initial idea for the Thane.

A second opinion from Baja revealed the expansion code was using low priorities. Doh. Fixed that - the AI still doesn't want to expand. It also still doesn't want to get Duriel later on in the script. Gay.

I use it all the time and dont have a problem with any of the games i play, which is..

Starcraft
Diablo 2
Oblivion
Quake 4
Diablo 3
Two Worlds
Crysis
Fable
Half-Life 2
Team Fortress 2

And other then Crysis I play all of those in full settings with no lag ever.
