Mayor, I would say that you're gonna lose all your minerals ;P
Lethal_Illusion and Kaias, qPirateKing and Hugel
will finish their map

I would also put Falkoner, Psionic_Storm and Ahli in it

Oh, and could a project like Hells Awakening (== that is near completion) be submitted?

(Just asking for his maker since his map seems very cool)
EDIT: Mp)Blu / Mp)Sound - Stairway to Heaven
Oh! You know you get extra points with me for having a classic rock song's name as title?
None.

If win either way even if I lose my minerals.
And even if those 3 maps get finished my prediction will still hold true.
None.
Go see my edit

They won't finish.
Anyway there's no point continuing to discuss who will and will not finish. I've already stated my estimate and only time will tell.
None.
Pigy, TZ's map has 7 tomes with 4 spells per tome.
9 tomes, not 7... One for each unit that can be directly at the Hatchery.
If you get upgrades from kills it fits into a general "RPG" theme. It doesn't have to have RPG in the name to be an RPG. Nor does it have to have character levels. I think what matters really is you are taking on a "Role" of some kind. AOS maps are technically RPGs. You grind on stuff, you level, you have a mission. You cast spells. What doesn't make this an rpg? I recently played one where it was a 3 v 3 wizard battle. 5 Tombs, about 6 spells per tomb. The casting system was awesome, and the spells were actually unique. Go with what YOU want to make.

Tome, not tomb... And Kaias, do you think AoSs are RPGish enough to use to enter? (I think I asked this a while back but didn't get an answer. Either that, or I missed the answer...) I think that The Battle of Breach (my planned AoS, if you don't know) would be a lot better than Archmagic, which is why I'm asking. If you will let AoSs in, change my entry to the Battle of Breach. If it wins, divide the minerals between me and stickynote, he did some epic terrain for it. (I'll still do Archmagic either way, don't worry, DeVouReR.)

I think we should have a definition of what an RPG requires because I'm sure plenty of people are wondering how many different types of maps they can try to approach.

I doubt it since most of the work on the RPG was done in 2008 and not 2009. Only projects that have been worked on mostly in 2009 can be submitted.

Good to see lots of people deciding to work on this.
I think we could all help each other stay motivated.
I know for myself that I have been on a slight hiatus in mapping
because of the end of the quarter right before the holidays, and then the holidays themselves.
The map wasn't far from my thoughts and I have lots of new ideas to implement into it going forward.
A year may seem like a long time, but it will be over before we know it.
Lets keep each other on track and end with a bang with tons of RPGs to play.

a question:
so if I understood it right I can try to make my map and if I'm able to finish it I can participate at any time? (so even at the last day?)
I ask this question because I have no idea if I have the time to do this, this year is full of work.
Well, can I get the name up on the list or do I need to make a PM? I'm working on an un-named RPG at the moment, have a bare bones fighting engine, but no terrain, plot, or completion.

From what I understand: As long as you have a completed RPG to display by Dec 31st 2009 @ 11:59pm, you are eligible to receive prizes and you succeed in completing the challenge.
None.
Wow, this contest sounds... drawn out? One year RPG contest, omigawd. Well it is okay, me and T-Vizzle are entering the contest. I see a lot of competition out there though, Lethal - Kaias - qpk.. damn.

That would be cool, then I'll see if I can make it and sign up in fall then.
None.
I shall enter, I'll give you my map title later.
If all else fails, crowbar the fucker
I'm donating 650 minerals to this on behalf of shroomz.

The orginal AoS would be RPGish enough to be allowed, but something like temple siege where the focus is competition would not.
I'd like to sign up.
I don't have a name yet though.
None.
Having actual signups is dumb.
A list of projects that all have links to them would suffice.
(Yeah, I say this about every contest.)
Maybe ask for a massive entry of infos into "Map Production" to valid the entries?
And someone should host a channel so people that are participating to this and that want to test or have questions about map making can meet each other (instead of spamming Op SEN).
SelfP, I need your help, please answer my PM if ever you read this

Dude, this thing will last a year. Having another channel would be pointless. Just use op SEN.
