For the temple siege terrain, I think it was best to place it here since it is terrain.
anyways, This is Layout B, It's not final version for the upcoming Temple Siege, because I do tend to make a few more layouts and hopefully get some feedback on how to balance these maps. For now I'd like some suggestions and comments about this current one. I'm working on pathing so far, later I'll add the ornaments which consist of doodads and more epic blends.

This is SO much better than the current one. I like that it is less cluttered; it's less of a pain on the eyes. Keep the terrain simple. I don't like the clutter on the current temple siege; it looks unwalkable.

Ooh the bottom left looks neat. Feels a lot more approachable, and cool :P. Oh and now that you're doing it.. is there a way to make walkable void in a secluded area w/ limited vision? I need it for a new spell =o.

However, I really really liked the way you did the top left in the v1.4 version with the cliff looking all temple like. But, this feels good too.

I don't really like the strip of water + high land down the middle. It'd be better IMO that they're kind of intermingled, where there'll be Pieces of Highlands that heroes can go up and get the advantage of being on high grounds.
I also don't understand those weird cliff strips that are like protection.. I don't think we'd need 3 of them in a row ^^. I think just mixing up the water, highland, and cliff strips in the middle will do wonders.

I really can't comment until I see lines drawn over the image indicating the spawn paths. I would like to have all the paths have a secdondary path that spawns are occasionally sent down, or at least just a sliptting up of the spawns in the top right path, as done in v1.

Less Bridges. I mean, at least make them look damaged. No aged war is gonna have beautiful bridges and petty flowers. :bleh:

To be honest, as nice as the terrain looks, its not realistic in one way.

Would you build huge bridges across a lake? Or rather, would it even be possible for a lake to be there?

wow i really like the old/newish terrain, looks good, and works well. This looks to plain, besides using the terrain in the clutter is fun.

I know it looks plain... I just wanted to see wheather areas were to big or too small for units
I wanted to avoid some things from the 1.4 terrain, such as the blocking paths for the brood and such.
also I went for a bit more symmetric approach, this way both teams lightly balance out more.

Here's my little tid bit of advice for the new terrain:

1. (Bottom Path) Make the bottom path more open, less bridge battles. Make it have a bit of jungle feel to it, perhaps cliffs in the middle with a river running through and mabye a few parts to go up n down the cliffs. Make it look like a swampish area.

2. (Middle) Instead of trying to make it open, turn it into a dense jungle/temple (It is called "Temple" Siege, lets see some temple). Try not to completly seclude it from the other sides, but make it look like it's a path.

3.(Top) Turn it into a mountain. A really crazy mountain with ups and downs/nooks and crannys. Really make it come alive and say wow this person put alot of work into making this terrain. Now you still want to have the mountain open, so don't go into making it split off into 100's of diff paths. Make it look complex but with freedom to move around.

4. (Suggestion) You should add some sort of tunnel complex on the side. It would be neat to make some kind of cave area to run around in. (Perhaps undeath the island and you can come to the surface at certain parts). And last but not least, Use more of the fucking map. I want to see the map run into the nooks and crannys error that I've run into 100's of times =P. If you have to resize the map to make it work better, then do it.

If you have any troubles of getting that creative spark or you get stuck at a certain point. Unholy knows where to find me.

Ryu's ideas.. I agree with a jungly portion, but make that the bottom.. yeah bridges aren't required too much.. infact, the old 1.2 terrain had two big bridges in the middle, which acted like a choke point, and the other bridges acting as islands were the best "I" could do without spending too much time..
In other words, the bottom area is all up to you...

As for additions, i'd say no to cave networks cause spells screw up in them. HOWEVER, I wanna see more high-terrain/low-terrain areas in such a way that ppl would use them for micro =o
The top part in v1.4 was outstanding, and I thought it was perfect. I don't really think it'd need to be changed :).

No, that's why I made a topic. I don't really have time to go on battle.net. I don't know what you mean by "help", I'm just taking suggestions on the image the new terrain is going to be like. I'm assuming Urine wants a specific look, so I'm not doing anything else for now. once I know what the final terrain is going to look like, after balancing the terrain, I'll add more detail to it.
