I think this replay (If it doesn't desync) says it best. Me and my little brother Winter_dragon (goes by Opacare as well) in a LAN game on Python 1.3 against a random computer that turned out to be Zerg.
Due to a small memory slip, I got my third Hatchery later than I should've/meant to. Another problem is that I should've gotten even more Hatcheries than that, but completely forgot about it. My main troubles in this game are as follows:
1): I can't manage microing and my economy/tech at the same time. Big weakness, especially during long skirmishes. If I get a scouting Drone into another player's base, I'm afraid that while looking around, I'll leave my teching completely stagnant. This is most evident when we attacked the computer's main, I should've made some reinforcing units, but was too busy watching my lurkers
.
2): I can only seem to make the units I need at the moment, thus I have much fewer units than I should.
Anyone have any advice for those problems? I have a few more problems than this, but I can't remember them.
All in all, though, I did much better than Winter

Most people have trouble doing this. Just look for important stuff like 2nd hatch going up, or pool before hatch, triple hatch no pool, 12 pool, 9 pool, and remember builds.

Pretty much the solution right here. Hotkey your buildings and learn to use the location hotkeys for your bases. You can use and set F2-F4 like normal hotkeys for places in your base (ie near your hatchery or whatever to grab a drone to tech with) and hotkeying your buildings allows you to pump new units quickly while micro'ing and even quickly rally them to your current position.

wow, I didn't know who could hotkey your screen position. Do you just cntrl+F2 and it saves it?
Yup. By default all three are set to your starting position. I hope Blizzard lets us use F1-F4 in SC2 because the only thing stopping me from using them right now is the fact I have to start with F2, for some reason I can't adjust to that fact and use F2 instead of F1.

It'll always start from F2, and I am wondering if Blizzard will add them to SC2 because WC3 didn't have them. We'll just wait and see. (because F1 will always be the hotkey to Ingame help.)

We should begin ranting about why they don't let us customize keys.

Because someone like you might set all the things to one letter.

I would love to be able to customize keys. So instead of M for marine, E for Medic, F for Firebat and G for Ghost I can use QERT as the standard keys for building units and remap WASD to the camera movement.

Correction: Medic is C, not E.

I believe it is possible to change your own hotkeys without being desynced. You would make a "mod" where all you did was change the hotkeys in stat_txt.tbl, then you could still play over bnet vs the normal players, just with easier hotkeys.
Would you like to test that?

I' have been using my own hotkeys for years. Without them I would be lost.
I honestly don't know now what I've changed, because I haven't played with the standard ones in years. I do know that ALL my hotkeys revolve around my left home keys. Example:
marin<e>
s<e>ige mode
hydr<a>lisk
probe<s>
a<r>chon etc.
There are a couple weird ones too:
build bunker <x>
patrol<q>
hold postion<z>
Anyways if you'd like to try them out for fun here they are:

Yep.. without any problems. Foreign language stat_txt.tbl is a good example. You can just add your modified stat_txt.tbl to your patch_rt.mpq and you're good to go.
Now F1 however is a different story. The key remap program might be the only way around that.

Very interesting. And you're saying you wont desynch?
None.

Nope because stat_txt.tbl is only used locally for display and hotkey purposes.
Theoretically you could rename all the units and nothing would happen?

Yes, you could also change grp's or other graphical things like the console (saw someone do that once).
