I'm just looking for a little schooling in the medieval times of mapping/modding where Camelot ran the show as far as tool creation goes. I remember dling all their stuff on my old comp with win98 and not being able to run half of it(wtf is a .dll?!). I can't tell you how many times I double clicked .zip files praying to god that they would just execute(my childhood would have been x10 more enjoyable with winzip).
Enough reminiscence, I was just wondering who their members were and what happened to them. Really any discussion or little known gems.
It slowly died off, I beleive due to funding. Campaign Creations and StormCoast were born and strived because of it (I think...)

Someone should write a book or something online about the history of starcraft & map making. I'll pay money

I'll pay money
Really? I'll do it. Except that it would probably suck ass because I haven't been with starcraft all that long... And I don't even have starcraft installed right now... I desperately want to test some concepts.
None.
I'd pay someone with huge knowledge who was here since the beginning. But I would probably pay minimum of like $50 USD.

I'm not
that new to starcraft. But I definately could not write a history. I could write
my history with starcraft though!

Talk to DoA, SI, or BroodKiller for details.

King Arther was hired by Blizzard. No idea if he's still employed there after all these years.
The site was active for many years, even after all the programmers had moved on or become inactive. Then one day, I believe it was Merlin, pulled the plug completely on the site. I remember talking with him about it, being a bit upset that he'd just axe our community like that (no tool development, granted, but plenty of modding talk and assistance). Others had been tending to the site just fine, but he said it "served its purpose and just needed to die". Seemed odd coming from someone who hadn't been active in the CS community for a long time. Last I spoke with Merlin, he was working on an FPS engine from scratch to train himself.
Yup, I remember CS' rise and fall... that was when I was
really modding and not half-assed garbage like I do now.
Show them your butt, and when you do, slap it so it creates a sound akin to a chorus of screaming spider monkeys flogging a chime with cacti. Only then can you find your destiny at the tip of the shaft.
Camelot Systems was around when I was modding. Rofl.
WAT? Do you still have any of your old mods? =O
I remember CS fondly because of ezloader for StarCraft Shareware. <3

DoA's rather new. BK too. I'd talk to SI if any.

Broodkiller was around CamSys when I was. He just wasn't a programmer then. =oP
SuicidalInsanity (SI) and ShadowFlare are both ancients who might have a few stories to tell.
I was around back then, but too involved
playing the game than enjoying the amusement of communities. xD Plus I was really young and had no idea what a forum was ...
