There should be an "Articles" sub-forum under SC General discussion. It would encourage ppl to write needed articles. If you add this feature, I promise to add 10 new article topics about SC. If you don't agree with me, and your not mod alumni, plz stfu.

An entire sub forum just for articles right now would be unnecessary. It would be perfectly fine just putting them in the SC general discussion because there aren't many topics there now. For organizational purposes you could just put links to the previous article topics in your new article posts. If they turn out to be good articles then maybe you can make a separate topic that just lists the articles with topic links to them and a mod can sticky it at the top of the SC general forum.

If you have ten articles about SC and you're serious about writing articles you should post them regardless of whether there's currently a sub forum for them. If they're good and people show interest in them and want to start writing some of them own then it would show to the admins that it would warrant a sub forum of its own. Existing topics created in SC general discussion could always be moved if a sub forum were to be created in the future.

The point is to actually demonstrate that such articles truly call for a new sub forum and not to just base the creation of the sub forum on promises and conjectures. Sure it might encourage people to write articles, but I doubt it would especially if they aren't motivated to write ones now, but besides that it's only a possibility and not guaranteed to happen.

But unless several other people are already willing to write articles a sub forum dedicated to them I just don't see people here putting much interest into it. I doubt that if it was set up now that people would be encouraged to start writing articles if they aren't writing articles now. There have already been things that involved community contribution like the wiki and map reviews that haven't been active at all. I don't think a lot of people here bother with this sort of contribution. Map uploads seem to be the extent of what people are willing to do.

The whole point in having open topics with suggestions is to get feedback from other members. Suggesting something to a mod/admin and expecting them to do it without the majority of members actually wanting/needing that something is completely arbitrary.

I would also think that the wiki would be a perfect location for SC related articles.
Thanks!

"mod alumni"? What is that supposed to mean?

But as said twice before me, we already have a wiki for stand-alone articles.

A bliss in proof, and proved, a very woe;
Before, a joy proposed; behind, a dream.
All this the world well knows; yet none knows well
To shun the heaven that leads men to this hell."

Mods that have graduated to life :/
Gerard DuGalle: "You vastly underestimate me, my dear."
Infested Kerrigan: "I don't think so, Admiral. You see, at this point... I'm pretty much the Queen Bitch of the Universe. And not all of your little soldiers or space ships will stand in my way again."

No need to get a snippy attitude, kaiser. I wouldn't want to read a supposedly professional article from someone that tells people to go stfu.

I really don't see much activity coming to this sub forum. It's difficult enough to get people to post coherently in Null, much less expect a swath of well made articles. And as Yoshi said, there are already tons of tutorials out there.
Haikus are easy
But sometimes they don't make sense
