My Laptop has been having unexpected shutdowns. eight of them to be exact.
Anybody want to form some hypothesis? because I have no idea whats wrong. overheating is unlikly because i have a laptop cooler and the fan is clean.

Hard shutdowns, BSODs, or system initiated shutdowns (you see the little "your computer will shut down in 30 seconds..." window)?

None.

Maybe your computer is set to shut down when it reaches a certain level of temperature? Mine is set to 75C if I can last time I checked BIOS settings. Forgive me if I misuse some terms, maybe someone else can make it clear.

Sounds like a hardware problem.

Does it just instantly shut down, or does it just shut down as if you had hit the button? My 4 year old XP machine does that.

I would pay attention to temperatures. Try using Everest Home to monitor your temperatures and report back to us what they are.

Also, when is this happening? Is it connected to the AC adapter? Is there a battery, etc.

It is happening randomly it doesn't matter if i have just the battery or just the AC adapter. I really do not think it is overheating because i have a laptop cooler.

Laptop coolers do not make your computer immune to overheating.

If it has been a year since you've had your laptop, think about reapplying thermal paste.
Clean out the insides and ventilation of your laptop with compressed air. Prevent over spinning your fan by holding it still with an object.

If you are playing intensive games, which even the best gaming laptops oftentimes cannot handle without overeating, think about undervolting your CPU. It will deter, or sometimes completely stop, the overheating from occurring.

Check for overheating and power failure.

I would leave it shutdown for 30 minutes then turn it back on to see if it was one of those.
If it still shuts down randomly afterwards then its something else.

This laptop is about 60 days old the inside is like completely clean.

If it's 2 months old, the warranty should still be valid. Just send it back in.

The problem with this is that they might reinstall my os and I really do not like other people messing with my computer.

Well, if you like random shutdowns more than a possible reformat, don't send it in.

If you have a spare hard drive with enough space, use a drive imaging program to clone your drive into an image file on the spare hard drive, and you can use that to restore it when you get the computer back if they messed with it in any way.

Ultraviolet -- RIVE
RIVE shouted: Beta 4 lyfe, ya kno
feels like a lower commitment. like if someone bitches about something, I can say it's in beta phase whatchu expect? :P

NudeRaider -- Ultraviolet
Ultraviolet shouted: NudeRaider I suppose that's one justification for pushing it to 1.00. I'm still messing with some novel concepts, I completely revamped the Shadowcraft hero in v0.18 and there's some kinks to work out with some of the other changes I made, but I suppose that doesn't mean I can't call the currently version 1.XX
indeed

NudeRaider shouted: Ultraviolet Oh, then your versioning is maybe a bit misleading. I didn't have much trust in a v0.2

Ultraviolet shouted: Imp UV3 is actually in the works with some major changes, but it's been slow going. I'd like to have a version of Imp UV for every tileset at one point.. hopefully it doesn't take until 2030 :P
prediction: It will. ;)

NudeRaider -- Ultraviolet
Ultraviolet shouted: NudeRaider Oh definitely fully playable. I used the first map as the shell, so it was basically complete from the first release. I've made some tweaks and improvements here and there based on nuances between the maps, like UV2 has more air units so certain ground-focused heroes like Psycho and Shadowcraft have needed some buffing. Other improvements have been little bug fixes or ways of stopping cheese strategies (like the bosses now spawn in a random location instead of at their lair so players can't just camp them with nukes. UV2 is definitely harder despite only being 4 levels + boss fight instead of 5. I'd say it's definitely worth a go, there's some unique mechanics that make each of the levels have kind of their own interesting spin
Oh, then your versioning is maybe a bit misleading. I didn't have much trust in a v0.2
