A few questions

I haven't made maps for 3 years, and finally decided to pick it up again. I know quite a bit, but some of the things I see in maps stump me. I've searched around to find the answers but couldn't (stumbled on this site though =p), so here they are:

Question 1: Where do I download Wav.files (sounds)? I use hyper triggers in my new map and with text, It takes a lot more triggers so the messages aren't jumbled together, and from looking at Golden Knight Rpg, it uses hyper triggers and then Transmissions for using text. Now, I can't use transmissions because I don't have wav files. I haven't looked too much for this, but I'd like to know where I can get them.

Question 2: Simple - What map maker gives the plain color 'black?'

That's all the questions right now, I might think of more later :P

WAV files are simply a sound file in it's most basic form, any OS pretty much can work with them, although using SCM Draft you can find virtual files, sounds already built-in to SC, and use the ones that are silent to add a WAV to your map so you can use transmissions and take up no space. Now, hypertriggers and transmissions aren't a good combination, as transmissions are the same as a wait. You might want to use death counts, a display text message, and a minimap ping, the only reason to really use the transmission is for the cirlces that appear around the units.

No editor just gives black, I believe if you enter 19 into the player color in SCM Draft or StarForge you should get a pretty good black. Any number between 0 and 255 gives you a color.

The thing is for the sounds, when I click the wav. box for transmission, it's empty and I have no choice to browse or anything to find it. I'd didn't really consider using death counts because at first glance I don't see how they'd work between times using text, which would normally work if I add in wait times, but I can't do wait times since I have hyper triggers, so I guess explain how death counts would affect time between messages?

As for the black color, I've seen some maps that have a pretty convincing pure black color, such as Crash RPG Rev. It's the color you get for player 12 from Xtra-Editor 2.5, that's the color I'm looking for :P As for color 19, i'll try that in starforge, thanks.

I had a 3rd question but deleted it as I thought I had found the answer but turns out I didn't:

I want to use Recall as a 'teleport' to different towns, the problem is I can't get the trigger to work. I assume the only way you can do this is through running an AI script at location, but it doesn't work at all (and yes, I added an arbiter). So how do you do this? The best I could do was using the recall sprite, but it goes away after 1 time, where I want it to loop.

I previously used Starcraft Xtra-Editor 2.5 for everything, with Starforge used only for color & going past 9999hp. Since I decided to make a map after so long, I picked up Scmdraft 2.0 (beta 0.8.0) so I am still learning off of it, but so far it's replaced Xtra-Editor :P As for another question pertaining to this, what do you mean player color in scm draft? The only colors I know of are from Map settings - map properties where there is a drop-down box for colors, but I see nowhere to 'enter' a player color into. Starforge on the other hand does.

Instead of picking from the dropdown, type in the number.

This tutorial should teach the basics on death counts, they can be used for all sorts of things, not just timers.

Make sure the arbiter has energy, has recall researched, and is for the right player, also try having multiple arbiters.

Ahh thanks, i forgot to set the energy to 0, silly me XD. Also solved the other 2 problems, didn't see the .wave editor in the back of the menu's. Thanks a lot :D

Thanks for the Death count tut. I knew what they were but never used them so I didn't know they could be timers. Awesome.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

56 is black on all terrain.

You might also tinker around with 130-140, they are mostly black and have strange colors on the map (so it's not black).
