Give unit action not working?

OK I've been trying for like an hour to get this thing to work, hoping that something weird that i dont know about will happen and it will fix itself. But to no avail.

For some reason, the give unit action does not work at all. The one test i did where it did work was when I did this trigger:

Player 1
Always
Give all Factory at "location 1" to player 1.

Other than that I cannot get it to work no matter what i try. This has never happened to me before.

For this particular map I am switching back and forth with Starforge and SCM draft because my map making buddy likes to do triggers in starforge and I have to do them in SCM draft. Could this be the problem?

Thanks in advance!

We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch

It would help if you posted the trigger that did NOT work, as give action is pretty forward I can't imagine what could go wrong except you misclicked something.
Maybe you gave from the wrong player or gave the wrong unit type, or the location is not where you expect it.
If you use waits it could always be a wait block. But that's about it (I think).

As for the switching it is like demanding for glitches. Those editors are not really compatible. Don't switch.
But I never heard triggers screwing up. Maybe it's the strings?
The give unit trigger might look for a "Welcome to my map!" instead for a factory :P

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

when a trigger doesn't run, it's because the trigger conditions aren't met. It's quite simple.

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

1. make sure that there are factories (did you chose [factories] or Terran Factory?) in Location 1. That buildings should be owned by which player before? Is that player correct in the trigger (because you didn't mention that in the trigger in your first post)?
2. did you use other give actions in the same trigger cycle (which could give the buildings instantly back to another player)?

@rockz:
he used only "always".

Find Me On Discord (Brood War UMS Community & Staredit Network)

also make sure that the location has all the elevations ticked.

Tell your friend to use SCMDraft2.

Sorry I didn't include more details, but I solved my problem. Thanks NudeRaider - I didnt think that the strings could be corrupted. I thought something was probably wrong because of the switching, but not that. So I created another location and tested that and it worked with the new location. Apparently even "Anywhere" is corrupted because in my testing last night even that didn't work. Is this a problem with the strings or just with the locations themselves?

Problem solved anyways.

I'll tell kyle to switch over right now! And if you are reading this kyle, I TOLD YOU SO!!!!

StarForge not a good program for mapping. Although I do compliment its text-based trigger editor with auto-complete, I find SCMDraft2's classic auto-complete much better. As well as better handling of problematic areas, such as not selecting a player for a trigger (this causing the trigger to disappear from view). No the trigger is not gone, it's still there. You just can't select it anymore.

Not only do many users get frequent random crashes, but StarForge does not even comply with Starcraft Campaign Editor CHK format. SCMDraft2 does so almost perfectly with complete support for ISOM. StarForge has essentially no ability to recycle strings and does not properly deal with Strings. Either way, choose one editor and stick with it.

There was, however, a known bug for SCMDraft2 which it did not properly resize the 'Anywhere' location. This has been since fixed. So make sure you are using the latest version of SCMDraft2.

What is "Auto-complete?" Sounds cool.

You start typing something, and it automatically tries to find words that you could be typing, kinda like most cell phones do when texting.

Only for T9 i don't use T9 :P. But I am his friend and I know the problem. The locations i made are air only to detect lifted buildings and remove and create them again. That's the problem! Thanks, this topic is solved.
