I think we should consider the idea of people buying and selling certain items to eachother, rather than just buy them from the store, to make people more involved in the market with minerals... All we do is play 2 games and save up for some stuff...
Thoughts on this? Remember, i'm not really pushing this, but im just throwing it out there... try not to flame too much.
Its an idea.

----just thought of this------------------
How about contests to make the best tutorial? The incentive of the mappers would be minerals (of course), the Site gets a new tutorial that it needs, and the people judge for the best quality tutorial?
Everybody wins?

for example, some admin or moderator looks at the tutorials SEN has, and then sees that we are missing a tutorial on......... Using Scarab AI scripts or something, i dont know... Then He holds a contest, and the person who can come up with the best tutorial for it in about 1 week can get the X amount of minerals prize??? Its a good way to increase things like money flow and the effectiveness of the tutorial database.

Wow, 2 hours has gone by and no reply? You guys hate this idea THAT much?
:( :dontgetit:

I believe an item marketplace was always planned (hence the 'Sell' link), but none was ever coded.

But what about to other players??? Trading and stuff?? That would add to the market.

Any thoughts on the tutorial idea?

The tutorials database is being phased out already in favor of the Wiki.

I never really intended to have much of a market. I intended for things to be earned by you and for you. I probably should've asked IP what he wanted to do with things.

Also, I think things like names and stuff should be able to be ... oh wth is that one word... Oh yea! Marquee. They should be able to Marquee and stuff... Or like an "Enable HTML Coding in title" product in store...? Maybe?

Nope. I'm not letting SEN turn in to something that looks like a 13 year old made it with spammed marquees and shit.

Enabling HTML is never happening either, both because it has too much power if abused and can be a security hazard.

Right... Is there a way to enable .. like.. only a few commands of HTML?
Or is there something else at least that is able to... "spiffy up" our titles and stuff?

The market would be totally no profit. Why buy items from somebody for more then the store? Also, why sell items for less then what the store costs?
Markets only work when there is enough items to be traded and if there is an alternate source of aquiring this item using time instead of money...

So in order for a market to truely be effective on SEN there would need to be item prizes for contests, item prizes in the magic boxes, random items and other activities that would gain items, then a variable market price can become existant.

Because

(i) The store doesn't have the item you want and won't get it in stock for a while
(ii) The store has the item for more than someone is selling it for, but they bought it for less (prices fluctuate)

If I wanted to sell a particular item at an outrageous price, I would buy up all of them first. It's the economy :P

Of course, when the rest of us have gotten 3-4 of them at negative 20-40 minerals, I think we win :P

I talked to IP about it back when we were launching v5, but I'm not sure if he took it seriously. The store stock rate is clearly designed for it, but without a sell feature it's annoying. I like the concept, anyway.

What if there was a "Send Item" option, like "Send Message" or "Send Minerals" except your sending a purchased store item

This way you could have a Marketplace and trade out-of-stock store items for say, a new signature image, or a private or in-progress map that the buyer is working on.

There is a problem with that, however... People would send their item, and the other person would just not send their minerals, or item.

well its a trust thing, and besides, if they didn't send the item/minerals then a staff member could handle the transaction

Yeah, definitely not, if they didn't send the item, then that member loses their trust, that's all, we're not giving more crap for the mods to do.

If we did have a trust thing, we definitely couldn't go to the Mod's if things went wrong. :P I think the Mods have enough to work with.
