Well I searched for about 2 hours all over trying to find this rumored protector, and I finally found it in a link at the bottom of a thread on some site ^.^

This file is a .zip with 3 map protectors inside, and the one which I tested, and so far it works fine against the best, is the special protector. I'm not sure about the other 3 protectors, I haven't bothered with them yet.

Sry if this is the wrong subject to post this in

This is probably one of the worst to give a protector since so many sen people are sided with open source.
Does this protector work against osmap?

I don't care who is for open source, as I am not against open source. I just want mappers to have a map safe from most noobs, if not all noobs. If anyone wants to see triggers in any of my maps, they just need to ask first, I won't witholg anything.

Masterjhonny weren't you there when Joeyray 'stole this' protector? Because it might have been Mattburch.. anyways I was there, with I think you, when he 'stole' it and ever since I have never been able to find the dang thing since maplantis died.

But yes it protects against OSmap I think because it removes the .chk, and OSmap needs that to open a protected map. I'mnot sure if thats how it works, but it works fine. I tested it myself.

That isn't how it works. A map without a .CHK is not a map.

Is LegacyWeapon still actively updating OSMap? If not then this protector is all we need :D

He didn't have to update it... It already worked, he was told about this like a year ago and made it work against it, and all these were posted in Maplantis' program list :P I'm just waiting for Farty's compression program, it protects, since the best compression removes things that allow you to edit the map, the only reason to use protection is to keep random B.netters out, and to compress.

Does that mean if you open a map that uses TrigPlug with OSMap it will corrupt it? xP

Is it going to have better compression than something with extra protection?

Eh. If I could figure out wtf it is corrupting it'd have nice compression. I could probably research a bit more to remove even more unused data...

OSMAP2 has compression. Check 'Options'.

..Compression that hardly works. I tried it and it only worked on one of the maps I tried. OSMap1's compression is more reliable, but still crashed on a few maps I tried or corrupted them.

I know, but as Farty said, it's still quite buggy, I generally just test every compressor when I finish a map to find which one does it the best.

Yes, many of those other programs add crap in there trying to protect it..

It's funny, though, I thought string recycling was what was going to give me the most trouble when actually it isn't. :P I don't know what isn't working in it...

Well, the protector works with whatever version of OSmap I have.. and that's a lot better than having a protector that doesn't work for ALL versions of OSmap.

I think farty's compressor sounds neat, I'll be waiting for it :P

Yeah the files were on maplantis, but since it died, I had some trouble finding the dang file anywhere.
