Orid Ibanna is a mod set in an Earthlike nebulae, meaning it has clouds, oxygen, blue sky, and breathable air and stuff. Now, to pull this off, it required a lot of Hawt Tile'ing. But, regardless, I got it done in 2 days. The first pic is in SCMDaft. The second pic is a layout of the basic doodads I have so far.

Note: THIS IS NOT FINAL! The tileset will probably change considerably by the time I release the mod.

Farty, I think this beats that picture you always post in the terrain forum. :P

Oh yeah, of course I am removing all shadows. I just haven't actually started the modding yet, I am only working on the tileset.

Something I made put to good use! *euphoria*

Are the doodads little sprites that float up and down, or are they static?

As much as I would love to have them float up and down, I cannot. I dont want to tax the sprite limit any more then I have to. But, most normal unit entities will float up and down, if its any consolation.

You can load mods into SCMDraft with the account options. Set one to load the mod as the MPQ.

The only unit shadows I see are the ones above clouds. This is realistic. Next time you fly on a plane watch how the plane casts a shadow on the clouds. If there was some way to keep shadows on clouds but remove them anywhere else, that would be pretty sweet.

Yeah, but, there isnt. So we will have to do without.

Here it is ingame:

Its on the map (2)Shield that I made in an hour or so, meant to be a testmap.

If you want to see the map for yourself:
http://files.filefront.com/2Shieldzip/;10772605;/fileinfo.html
Download that, plug the MPQ into ScmDraft 2, and have a look at the map.

For the lazy, or those who cant get it to work:

As a FYI, to those who notice the odd resources : The mineral : Gas ratio is being changed. Now instead of minerals being 2:1, minerals will be 1:2, meaning gas is the most commonly used resource.

No. The marines have been converted into people resembling Superman, meaning they can fly around. All I need to do is give them a cape and a funny looking color scheme and they will be all done.
[/sarcasm]
The only thing edited so far is the tileset. Nothing else is modded. :P

LIAR. :P
You can make shadows not exist on specific colors. It may mess with FoW a little, I'd have to try it.

If I get bored I'll do an example.

Orly? Bah, I wont doubt you, you know way more about tilesets and palettes then anybody. If you can figure out a way, that would be pretty nice.

Eh. It does show a little in FoW. Lemme go play a map with lots of null so I can show the precise borders.

You can do some fun things with this. :P I made it so white becomes black and black becomes white.

(user posted image)
That is how much would be shown in Fog of War. If that bothers you, you can always use an unused repaletting table or even use an unused/underused set in trans50 or another table.
Hmm. I think you can even expand the tables, but I 'd have to try it.

You could try editing it... There is 127 FoW tiles, but I have no idea how they work.

You could make it, like farty did. To turn shadows into the sky blue so the shadow doesn't look on the sky blue itself but it looks on the clouds and it projects a colored shadow which is more realistic because shadows are never really black :P
