I'm flirting with the idea of "tactics" as relating to a DLDB tag.

And this map is so far the result of my search.

All I can say is that it would be a waste of a lynch if you voted for me. I doubt the "gold star" connection is that obvious and stupid.
Quote
EDIT: I vote Devilesk. Gold star for effort matches his name's color (although it's not true gold, it's still damn close) as well as the fact that he was 'baffled' (changing his vote multiple times) as well as frustrated (angry at me and a few others).
That's a pretty weak interpretation in my opinion.

Anyway, it's still early and I'll just defend myself with a better case for someone to lynch.

Currently I'm suspicious of Doodle and MadZombie. Doodle for the reasons other people said, and Zombie for his surface level and seemingly stupid replies.

However, Greo does have a point in mentioning gold star. It has been repeated.

I think ive only had like one or two good and helpful posts in this entire topic, maybe. THats probly being nice too. im just trying to point out anything that might be a clue but hey man u know what? From now on ima going to do my homework before i post. I'm going to actually open up notepad and copy and paste things.

Also guys looking back at the events of Day 1 it seems odd that ClansAreForGays and HailFire would be the first targets. Why is that? I'm looking back at their posts, specifically after the day one post and this is what I'm getting:

Quote from ClansAreForGays
On the rural flatlands of a small town, most people have gone to sleep. A gentle rain bathes the houses and businesses, but gradually intensifies. There is no thunder or lightning, but enough rain to keep most folk indoors. Only the moon and a single golden star shine in the overcast night. Overall, a fine cover is provided for murderous mischief.

On the outskirts of town, surrounded by acres of corn fields, a shady transacation is taking place. Four gentlemen, in two pairs meet in a small clearing of the crops. Removing his obnoxiously reflective sunglasses, a man removes a small and ornate gray box and key from his jacket. He passes it to a man with antlers in the other pair. Unlocking the box, the man with antlers peers inside, and smiles. "Good, excellent. You kept your end of the bargain," he says, locking the box shut and passing it to his friend. Reaching inside his coat, he deposits the key and takes out a money clip. "one, two, three..." he counts out stacks of $100 bills into his seller's hands until he reaches the $50,000.

"Good doing business with you," says the man in a thick German accent as he stuffs the cash into his vest. As he adjusts his tie, seven clicks of guns are heard from around the entire space of the transaction. Several forms emerge from the shadows and gesture towards the box and the money, "We'll be taking those". "Mafia, I should known" remarked the man with the antlers. The mafia made a simply but cryptic reply: "Yes, I have moved." Various words were exchanged in argument as everyone spoke at once. Little sense was made for those ten seconds, when the mafia opened fire. Bullets, similar to the rain pounding the ground, went into the two pairs of men, who die before even falling to the floor. As the mafia loot the corpses for the money and the box, lights flash on in the distant farmhouse. The mafia hurries up before they can be caught, and neglect to search for the key to the box.

Abandoning the corpses among the crops, the mafia makes a quick and artful escape. The owner of the farmhouse discovers the bodies and notices a glint of metal from one of the fallen corpses. Taking the key and placing it in his pocket, he returns home to notify the police. The body of Mini Moose 2707 and the other men are promptly buried the next morning. The burial rites are not quiet among the restless town craving revenge. Before the shovels even bury the final corpse, the town begins expedient erection of a guillotine. Horns blare to gather the town into the town hall, all of the townspeople gather for their first lynching.

Potential clues in bold.
And your interpretations are invisible?

And that hailfire thing sounds... sound.

But I think you guys are missing the real question behind the obnoxiously reflective sunglasses. What is shinny so brightly in a THUNDERSTORM that would cause this?
Quote from HailFire
As he adjusts his tie, seven clicks of guns are heard from around the entire space of the transaction. Several forms emerge from the shadows and gesture towards the box and the money, "We'll be taking those".
Something that stood out as a bit odd to me: Seven guns, but not neccessarily seven people? :wtfage:
Are you implying that someone's avatar is a Dual-Wielder?
Potentially.

And freaky coincidence: Doodle77, 27th on the signup list, 4+3 (the digits of his profile ID) = 7, in the 7th round of mafia with 7 mafia members and 7 shapeshifters.

That's too many fucking sevens.
Quote from HailFire
"most people have gone to sleep"
but it is nght time so it defintly has to have somone shiny involved.

Precisely. Additionally, it's in the middle of a field away from the town (where most lights would be), the lights in the farmhouse are off (as they turn on during/after the hit), and the moon and a single star don't give off a hell of a lot of light, especially with the bad weather (as the rain intensified over time).
Quote from HailFire
1 possible clue against maybe 3 or 4 good ones against you Doodle. Bold. Your avatar has an obnoxious Pokémon in it, beat that.
Just because some sunglasses were described as obnoxiously reflective, and then someone suggested that maybe it is not to do with sunglasses does not make every little obnoxious thing an instant clue. How is a little pokemon obnoxious? The things like NerdyTerdy's avatar that blink and flash all over are obnoxious and shiny.
And he's #7 on the signup list.

Maybe they were onto something and the mafia shut them up quickly and so far it's worked because we haven't given them a second thought since then?

Possibly Doodle hit HailFire?

FlyingHat's response to Dark_Marine's post seems quite a bit overreactive, maybe mafia-like?

More clues bolded invoking mafia is wearing some sort of guise or hat.You be accusing me? >:/

Quote from HailFire
And if what HailFire is saying here is true.. which we KNOW is.. Then that means that Doodle is using a clue from non-mafia orientated clues. Which means my clue of obnoxiousness is just as valid.

Edit:

MIGHT I ADD. Doodle Farty and EzDay have become increasingly AGGRESIVE. I'd like to call doodles bluff. What say you guys?

There are two possibilities there:

1: They are, in fact, Mafia, and are rallying to the aid of their ally (Not very subtle, guys).

2 (more likely): They may or may not be Mafia, but are doubtful of the integrity of the interpretations thus provided; ergo, they're trying to avoid the eventuality of lynching an innocent.

However, until more conclusive evidence is provided (or was provided while I was typing this up), I'm voting for Doodle77 for the lynching.Damn maybe HailFire was on to something? Farty already proven to be mafia.

Of course to be fair there's also this:
Quote from HailFire
Dammit, I forgot about the NudeRaider clues.

Okay, quick summary of clues thus far:

Doodle77:
  • Doodle - 'quick, artful' relation
  • obnoxious(?) avatar
  • Sevens all over the fucking place

NudeRaider:
  • German
  • Avatar contains sunglasses/shinyness

Correct me if I missed anything.

I'll rescend my vote for the time being; in retrospect, the clues against Doodle aren't really that convincing.

We may, however, want to go for a double-lynch.

Also in support of my previous interpretation leading to frazz, here's a post where frazz makes a post which has proven to be somewhat off and also in defense of doodle:
Quote from frazz
This is a doosy, pay attention.

NudeRaider is German, and his avatar has shiny glasses, so thats a pretty strong clue pointing towards him. But note that the german with the sunglasses isn't mafia in the text.
This is the first, and one of the very few, viable clue interpretations of the game (I think).
Please note that only four posts from here Darkling (just beginning his aggressiveness) says:
Quote from Darkling, four posts later
What if obnoxious is maybe an adjective, not just describing the glasses? Doodle77 and Greo each have obnoxious critters for avatars.
A rather junk accusation (why is the goopy pokemon obnoxious anyway?), but the beginning of a bandwagon. DM also dropped a hint at the sevens, but neither of them drew it to Doodle77's name. The connection was made by Hailfire (page 6).
HOWEVER, both Darkling AND Darkmarine immediately agreed, but neither voted.
Inferno was the first to vote (page 7), but Darkling and Darkmarine followed, once again immediately.

From there, I have this theory:
Doodle77 makes good accusation (this would probably mean NudeRaider is a mafia).
Darkling drops a hint on Doodle77 and Greo from obnoxious clue (bad, baseless accusation).
Dark Marine pulls in bringing up "7" and "username," but does not connect with Doodle77 (you'd have to be paying no attention not to notice it, both DL and DM are setting it up here).
More lousy discussion continues, but eventually HailFire points out the connection between Doodle77 and 7 (the two practically spelled it out already).
VERY NEXT TWO POSTS: Darkling and Darkmarine immediately agree, but only subtly, and without voting.
As discussion continues, Inferno casts the first vote.
VERY NEXT POST: Darkmarine votes for Doodle77.
TWO POSTS LATER: Darkling votes for Doodle77.

Seem suspicious? My theory, thus, is that Darkling and Darkmarine, and probably NudeRaider, are mafia. They set up accusations and connections, but remained subtly non-aggressive.

Here's farty in defense of doodle
Quote from O)FaRTy1billion[MM]
[*]Sevens all over the fucking place

Perhaps MadZombie got made at ClansAreForGays and hit him?

"gentle rain bathes the houses and businesses, but gradually intensifies. There is no thunder or lightning, "
um noI was implying that it had to be something else

you fucking retard.
Good advice from HailFire?
Quote from HailFire
By the way, I'd like to take a moment to remind everyone that, as demonstrated through the history of SEN Mafia, not all clues are context-based.

If Doodle turns out to be Mafia, maybe these people are NOT mafia?
Quote from Doodle77
I give up, lynch me today.
Here are the people that immediately bandwagoned me on one or two weak clues:
Hailfire
Darkling
Dark_Marine
lil-inferno
MadZombie
WoAHorde

This weakens the frazz-mafia argument, unless he just says this knowing Hail is going to be hit...
Quote from frazz
What? Have none of you the decency to respond to this accusation? Or are you just too lazy to respond to a legitimate argument?

I vote Darkling
I have to say though, I really don't think hailfire is a mafia (see quote).

Suspicious that Farty agrees with frazz and echo?
Quote from O)FaRTy1billion[MM]
at this point all i can say is nerdy needs to be lynched cause his avatar hurts my eyes, and darkling because hes annoying with his constant crap 7.. which is a number, which number has 6 letters, 6+7=13, thirteen is my age, which means im the mafia... OMG GUYS I KNOW WHOOS MAFIA. ITS DOODLE77! Seriously..
Exactly what I was trying to say earlier.

I agree with Echo and Frazz.

I vote for Darkling.
It also doesn't help his case that he keeps switching his focus like every five posts.

Echo was quite wrong here:
Quote from Echo

Quote from HailFire
I base my vote on the raining bullets and other clues that were previously interpretted.

...The raining bullets.

Yeah, really strong case against me there. :ermm:
Hmm... these guys were already shown to be townies:
Quote from frazz
I change my vote to Doodle. I'm not particularly excited about lynching either of the people up at block. I'd rather lynch Nude.
Then vote for Nude (or Darkling).
Really though, don't be a bandwagoneer.

Edit: Quote edited in to maintain context since I got bumped a page.

Subtle defending of Doodle here?
Then vote for Nude (or Darkling).
Really though, don't be a bandwagoneer.
If I vote for Nude it'll be a wasted vote. I'd rather Doodle die than Darkling. I'm not dumb.Rather kill Doodle? Why's that? And more...
I don't like him as much. Got a problem?Yeah, that's a bad reason. You should vote for Darkling instead.

*draws lightsaber*
Mafia like?
Quick! Somebody shift the tide the other way! No... we need more than a shift. We need....

Frazz did turn the tide, but possibly to what the mafia wanted....
What? Did my speech really caps lock the tide?

I should be an internet motivational speaker or something. :bleh:

More hailfire stuff to ponder...
I vote Darkling, because we all know he's a Mafian Shapeshifter.
You can be Mafia and a Shapeshifter at the same time? I'd like some confirmation on this, please.

As for the current voting status: I will officially abstain my vote for the day; while Darkling did turn suspiciously aggressive when the anti-Doodle train got derailed, I don't think that we've got any really damning evidence yet. Further investigation must take place.

On another note, has anybody really considered the box that got jacked off of Moose? They've got the box, but we've got the key. Additionally, the contents of the box are both very secret and very valuable. What could possibly be worth 50 grand, but still be contained in such a small box?

Random Dapperdan targetting might connect to this interpretation by inferno?
I found a rather suspicious clue (It has been discussed before this post, but I interpretted it more in depth.)

The mafia saying "I have moved in" may be DapperDan, because only a leader would refer to a group as "I", or perhaps, that man is being led by someone from a remote location, and the 7 clicks of guns are from 6 people, 1 of them duel-wielding (This one is a badass Mafia Member). DapperDan is a known Sen Mafia Mayor, who must lead the town to victory.

Let's take the time to reflect on what a dead PROVEN TO BE TOWNIE has said in his defense:
Jesus christ guys. I'm accused of the bandwagon, yet the "bandwagon" just jumped ship and went for me. I was simply trying to make a few interpretations because I was heavily inactive last game and I wanted to change that. The "7's" clue WAS NOT MINE. So even if someone accused me of using it, do remember that I DID NOT COME UP WITH IT. I'm using OTHER CLUES against Doodle77 primarily, NOT the "7's" clue.

Now, onto the light of the bandwagon. Has anyone noticed 9 straight votes went to me? Doesn't THAT look suspicious to me? ESPECIALLY AFTER BEING BASHED FOR CLUE INTERPRETATIONS.

My final thought: The Mafia isn't stupid. They'll use public vote to off a good interpreter, so that they don't have to kill me in the night where it'll seem that whoever I voted for was infact mafia and they we're protecting him / her / them.

Also. Let us not forget that more then 75% of the people voting for me haven't even got a clue interpreation yet. And I've yet to see ANY evidence of clues against me in the post. I do hope that some people voting for me / haven't voted yet will see this and change your mind. I'd rather not fall in vain because I didn't want to keep my mouth shut, and that I actually wanted to PLAY THE DAMNED GAME.

More to come....

Any clues that I've seen that point toward doodle are pretty flimsy. A "doodle" is not a form of artwork, it's what you do on the back of your test when you are bored and have nothing else to do.

You and 8 others on the other hand have not a single clue against me (Unless you count EzDay's BS clue.). What I said before, I'll say again. Before you attack my interpretations, make something up yourself. AT LEAST I'M TRYING.

More Doodle support from Farty
Quote from O)FaRTy1billion[MM]
You must also remember that in this sort of situation "guilty until proven innocent" isn't exactly the best option. If every suspect is considered guilty, then you may end up killing off everyone. Larger numbers will prevail, whether it is townies or mafia.
There is another reason: if you point the accusational finger at everyone who even looks at you funny, you may be endangering the population. I've said it before, you can't take these things so lightly.
(And this, my friend, is how I will be explaining my motives.)

Unless you can amaze us all by pulling some solid evidence out of the clues (and not some strang associations that seem to come from the air around us), I will stand by my vote.

EDIT: I'd also like to add, just as a note, it is really easy to get caught up in this game. :P Try not to take it personally.

+1 Nerdy. May he and Darkling rest in peace.
Quote from name:NerdyTerdy

My suspect list includes, WoA-Horde, lil-inferno, and NerdyTerdy. Why? Because they jumped altogether directly based on a interpretation which made no sense what so ever and voted with darkling. Then as the bandwagon changed, they desperately ditched the plan in trying to get doodle lynched and went to sacrifice darkling. I might not be right, but it's just a thought.

I didn't look at any of the clues, dunno what you're talking about. I just want Darkling to live.

Edit: Clue interpretations, that is.

2. Frozen face? See Dark Marine's avatar!!!! Is that face frozen or what. Now, look at it again. If it doesn't make you chuckle, you have a problem (comical and frozen!!!! :omfg: ).

Now, both Doodle and DM have clues.
DM gives me the heebie jeebies.

Actually, I thought he was a much more likely candidate than Doodle (not anymore).
Yes, indeed, it is a tragedy.

Out of curiosity, if there is a majority in favor of abstaining, do we actually abstain? Or would everybody need to abstain?

Plus I vote for Farty due to his suspicious logic.

K that takes us up to the start of Day Two.

Anyway guys, I think we should examine this whole box/key thing. It goes back to day 1 and it seems that this most recent post by Moose has shown that Dapperdan was the one that picked up the key.

Quote from Mini Moose 2707
On the rural flatlands of a small town, most people have gone to sleep. A gentle rain bathes the houses and businesses and gradually intensifies.

Four gentlemen, in two pairs meet in a small clearing in the crops. Removing his obnoxiously reflective sunglasses, a man removes a small and ornate gray box and key from his jacket. He passes it to a man of the other pair, a man with antlers. Unlocking the box, the man with antlers peers inside and smiles. "Good, excellent. You kept your end of the bargain," he says, locking the box shut and passing it to his friend. Reaching inside his coat, he deposits the key and takes out a money clip. "one, two, three..." he counts out stacks of $100 bills into his seller's hands until he reaches $50,000.

Little sense was made for those ten seconds, at which point the mafia opened fire. Bullets, similar to the rain pounding the ground, are shot into the two pairs of men, who die before even falling to the floor. As the mafia loot the corpses for the money and the box, lights flash on in a distant farmhouse.

** DAY ONE START **
http://www.staredit.net/?p=mafia for roles. Gogo. :)

So I've been looking at this trying to come up with something. I think it might be a metaphor/allusion to a whole topic/moderator/argument theme. I think key and box relate to locking. Topic locking. And since Dapperdan is a moderator that's what he does, he locks topics. The "Yes, I have moved" statement might be the moving of a topic. The statement about an argument that made little sense:
Quote
Various words were exchanged in argument as everyone spoke at once. Little sense was made for those ten seconds, at which point the mafia opened fire.
Might refer to an actual argument that occurred in a topic. Possibly one that Dapper was involved in.

Anyway, I'm trying to address the overall question of what is the significance of the key and what is in the box?

Also, this topic might be where clues lead to.

Mafia players involved are echo, fatalexception, dapperdan, and clansareforgays.

Nicely folded clothing seems odd and out of place and so does the throwing of it. And Greo already has it highlighted, so I agree with him.

Just here for the pie

Quote from Night 2
at their beautiful picture of destruction.
Yet another clue directing towards Doodle77. I know that a "Doodle" isn't exactly a beautiful picture, but you get the idea.

I vote for Doodle77. It's time we take a stand!

Jul 10 2008, 4:48 am Demented Shaman Post #793

Well, here's an alternative to the whole destruction thing as well
http://www.staredit.net/45870/

Although the Doodle connection seems to be stronger. Especially with all of the other clues we seem to have on him.

Also to the detective, I have a suggestion. Contact me and tell me your findings so if you are aware of any mafia, I can also look for clues that point to them and help persuade them more easily without giving you away. Now you can contact me now, or if you want investigate me next if you do not trust me yet. Once you are sure that I am a townie, I hope that I can talk to you.

I'm just throwing this out there because I just thought of it, but the "gold star" might be an allusion to Mario and the super mario bros games and lil-inferno has a Luigi avatar. However, I originally thought of the guy with the mario bros sig who I looked up to be Hynk, but he's already been proven to be a townie.

That's what I originally thought of, but found out it was Hynk.

And just throwing this out there, but could SiN's sig be a picture of destruction?

Also, I just found this out, but Horde's avatar "FYI, I am a spy" is from Team Fortress 2. Just sharing in case others didn't know and it might possibly have a connection to something.

I think we should share the meanings and origins of our avatars/signatures just to have background information and it might help in drawing clues and interpretations.

I think we also need to start taking into account inactivity as a possible reason for lynching or suspicion of mafia. I'm sure some mafia are trying to keep a low profile as part of their strategy.

Well I was just trying to think outside the box and so I went to the terrain forum. This stickied topic caught my attention.
http://www.staredit.net/topic/2403/
Posted by lil-inferno. There seems to be a bunch of explosions there. Weapons specialist maybe? Responsible for the explosions that occurred in day 2? "Ruins" may also mean terrain ruins?
Quote
Quickly, explosives are laid along the edge of the house, and then the mafia begin to search for their victim...
As the mafia arm the explosives, the digital timers cast an eerie green light that reflects off a mafia's large, circular sunglasses. All the mafia then slip off into the gathering dawn, leaving the mansion to detonate...
the devastated townsfolk sift through the ruins of the mayoral mansion.
Also, I saw this as might having a connection to the blue in day 2 as well:

However, then I thought of something that might be even stronger. lil-inferno's name is a bluish color and his sig is blue in text as well.
And in this topic he does make use of green as well
http://www.staredit.net/topic/2191/

light blue house with a pale green door.
Then someone strays into the street with the blue house,

Hmm, while performing a search of the forum on "house" I found this interesting post by FatalException:
Quote
I have two characters on a friend's account which I haven't used in over 9000, and I went over to a different friend's house and he had me grind honor on his shaman (lol, I can't believe I just said that), but other than that, no. I has nuu money.
http://www.staredit.net/70729/
What's interesting is not the mention of "house" but of 9000 which oddly appears in the mafia player list.
Quote
Over 9000. Your name here :)
And I have yet to see the reason behind the senseless inclusion of "Over 9000" in that post.

Now at the end of my house search I saw a post in mafia made by JaFF trying to address certain pieces of information presented in day 1.
Quote
Here are a few interpretations I had right after reading the post:
Lots of buisness references - I remember Farty saying that his parents have a buisness and that his summer job was to help them sell stuff. Perhaps some SEN members said that they want to start some buisness in future life?
moon and a single golden star - anyone interested in astronomy?
transacation - again, a buisness term. Also may be related to banking.
50,000 and 100 - the only thing I could think of is to divide 50,000 by 100, thus getting 500. The 500th member is irrelevant, but the 500th topic was made by BeDazed (this is it, I think). lul he's not playing. The 100th post in this topic belongs to FlyingHat.
Why did the mafia reply "I have moved" instead of "We have moved"? As if there's a leader or it considers itself as one entity. Maybe something tonnected with leadership or unity?

I don't suggest to lynch anyone I mentioned, just some thoughts. Of course, if more clues pointing to those people show up, they will become suspects.
Now going off his idea of banking I performed a search on "bank" and I think the best thing I could find was a post made by Zell which had the word "bank" in it. It's also part of a topic in economics where other mafia players posted, such as Dapperdan, A of st, and Merrell.
http://www.staredit.net/topic/3303/
Also, it seems that he was right with Farty, not sure if it's directly related to his interpretation though. However, its good to reexamine past clues and stuff like this.

Hmm, as for the use if "I" instead of "We" and moving and leadership, maybe it leadership of a clan or something? Has any type of clan/group recently moved?

BTW HEEGU I SEE YOU READING THE TOPIC FOR A WHILE NOW. NICE LURKING.

Hmm, and thinking of Heegu, I just took a look at his profile and avatar. He has a picture of Link. Link's weapon of choice is a sword, aka blade. And it seems like blade has been an often used weapon in the Mafia killings. Weapons master as well?

And going along with taking inactivity as a reason for suspicion, performing a search of Heegu's posts only turns up a small 2 posts. Neither of which contribute much.

Also, if history indicates anything it's that the whole "grimer" interpretation of Doodle has been used before in Mafia 6: Mindfuck. Also in Mindfuck Doodle was a member of mafia. I'm not sure whether we should take this to mean Moose and DTBK wouldn't be dumb enough to reuse clues or not or if the same thing would happen twice. Anyway, I'm just pointing out that it's been pointed out before. :P

This might be an epic breakthrough, but maybe all of the mafia are in clan [MM]
http://www.staredit.net/clan/2/
Farty is one of the leaders. Is there any connection to moving and clan MM? "The Shifters" and clan MM or modding?
There might be a whole clue->mod theme/connection going on here.

Oh wow, there's a whole bunch of explosive stuff in this upload by FlyingHat.

Devilesk, your posts are way too stinking long.

Also, why in the world is anybody voting for NR? Because he's German?

I thought we had good clue and behavior evidence going for Doodle and DM. No, I didn't read the last dozen pages, so I guess I can't complain.

I'll just hope I don't get hit tonight, maybe then I'll start playing. If I DO get hit though, I'm sure you all know who to suspect (*cough*doodleDM*cough*).

I know, they're really intense and epic aren't they?

There should totally be a forum just devoted to mafia. We could have each interpretation or whatever in separate topics. And there could be a sticky for the day/night posts and more topics for discussions of those nights and another clue finding topic and individual topics for other stuff! Then with each interpretive post getting its own post, there could be much more organized discussion on them.

Devilesk, stop posting super posts. You're going to a point where you're using what a person says as clues, and at that point anything a person says can make them Mafia, including you. They are not all in clan [MM], either. Right now, there's three obvious Mafia suspects: Doodle, Dark_Marine, and Zombeh. I change my vote to Doodle for now.

Heegu: Weapons Master
Zombeh: Moving in swarms, dead of the night
Doodle77: Protecting Farty, lots of clues
Farty1billion: Protecting Doodle, Shown to be Mafia, the Millions clues
WoAHorde: Mask
DarkMarine: Suspicious, wearing large round shades
Frazz: ???
