changing player colors

i'd like to change the color of a unit, (while playing the game), but after that the unit still belongs to the same player.

Give the unit to a computer player who is rescuable.
Then only human Players can gain the unit while touching them. The unit will still have the rescuable computer's color.  |

ok that worked. The player color is green.
I made a drone resuable, so the drone has a different color, blue. Then I tried to make a base and units with that same color. The hatchery still is blue, but any units coming from the hatchery are now the players color, green. so any way to keep the blue color for new units? |

not really
you could give all zerg units to a rescuable computer again, but you would have new problems with that because you always need a unit next to the zerg units or you need to create a huge system cycling all units. Then you will only have problems, if another human player brings a unit next to zerg units what will happen in your map, I think. |

You could make all units become a different unit upon creation, but I doubt you want to do that.
If you do though the idea would be to center a location on specific units that the player could build, then remove the unit at that location, give the computer the unit you want to replace it with, and temporarily give the player something to rescue the unit with. Invisible Observer ontop of Hatchery FTW.
