WTF?!?! How do you come to that conclusion?!
They just made Kosovo independent while preventing Serbia to retaliate with military action. Not to mention being one of the few places where smaller countries get to speak to larger ones where the giant powers LISTEN. The only problem with it right now, is that America thinks it is above the regulations of the U.N. and is disregarding regulations that were agreed upon, which is forcing our old enemy Russia to point out our international lawbreaking. Other than the American problem, the U.N. is in good standing and helping out many of the smaller countries. (Which is what it has always been good at.) And no, Europe is going uphill, just look at the dollar to Euro conversion in the past couple of months. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I don't know either. :/ I got fined 10 minerals too...when usually a post deletion is a single mineral fine. :'( Anyways, my entire point is: 1. Europe's immigration policy is non-existent 2. Quasi-Socialist system causing massive unemployment and worker inefficiency...causing riots & unrest among the unemployed 3. Lack of assimilation policy, discrimination, and unemployment causing the black & Muslim communities to become disgruntled and in some cases turn to crime Europe is still cool in some sense overall though. ie Amsterdam's casual drug policy... lol, jking This post was edited 1 time, last edit by Intranetusa: Apr 25 2008, 3:17 am.

People hate the government, therefor its doing something...
As for your statements. 1. As it should be. Opening up doors to anyone means that you'll get a lot more variety in your culture. I like meeting new people, don't you? 2. Unemployed people who complain about being unemployed make me sick. Just about anyone can get a job at McDonalds. As for quasi-socialist policies, much of the world is still changing from socialist style government to capitalist, you can't expect any political thought to change rapidly. 3. Lots of people are still racist... That's the governments fault? And drug policy in Europe is much better than in America. Cigarette companies don't hold as much of a political pull. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

1. There is a difference between legal and illegal immigration. Diversity comes from legal immigration, which is perfectly fine. Drug smuggling, violence, and cultural clashes comes from illegal immigration. 2. The problem with those countries is they switched from a booming capitalistic system to a quasi-socialist system that has stagnated their economy. 3. It's the government's fault when they have no assimilation policy that assimilates immigrants into the community, and this problem is multiplied by the fact they have no immigration policy, so many of the immigrants are illegal. This all leads up to ethnic and cultural clashes between native Europeans and those considered 'distant' foreigners - illegal immigrants and legal immigrants who haven't assimilated. Drug policy - Amsterdam is a good vacation spot for stoners ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Fixing immigration won't fix a drug problem. Cocaine is still as popular as ever in America, where were "cracking down" on immigrants.
In fact the only one that I can see coming from immigration is cultural clashing, simply because richer people hate living near with the poor. (I don't say rich people, because nobody ever has the money to move into to their realm, I mean the poor class of people, who suddenly aren't the poorest class in the country.) As for the problems with quasi-socialist countries, none of them were really booming to begin with, sure they made improvements while under a capitalist system, they were too far behind to really keep up with the western powers. (China being the only exception because they have like 4 times as many people as anyone else.) Your issue seems to be less with the EU in general, but specifically with immigration policy. Personally I think immigrants aren't the problem, its the stigma associated with them, formed by the rest of us. And who's to say a little crime is a bad thing? If crime rates went down, would police officers get laid off? Doubtful, they'd be finding some other way to remain useful. The marijuana world has saved the realm of speeding tickets. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I think it'll all work out fine if we have something to turn our attention to besides one another. People mutually grate on one another over time. That's one of the problems with humanity.
I say we should just start nuking China and get WW3 started. That'll keep us all occupied for awhile. This was a joke. |

Where do you live? In my country, prices ROCKETED after we've joined the EU (the wages didn't, as you may have guessed). Recently, inflation in Latvia increased to a dangerous level; and where is the EU? Sorry, but from my point of view, it's the worst thing to happen to Latvia in the past 50 years.

I say we should just start nuking China and get WW3 started. That'll keep us all occupied for awhile. This was a joke. Swing and a miss. Where's your thread contribution then? Moderators are allowed to make posts like that, and you know it. I don't know what you're goal is here. Anyways, no more posts about this in the topic. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

My goal is expressly to always say the exact things that only piss you off because we all know I'm secretly out to get to you! BE AFEARED!
Actually I was alluding to a new perspective on the topic about whether this is really a matter of policy problems, or simple attitude. Maybe the EU's policies aren't meant to handle people with attitudes (that is, the illegal immigrants, the poor siphoning off the socialist systems, etc.), and that's the problem. Their kind of system really works best when people aren't dragging themselves along like they are now. Roughly the same argument that applies for communism, too. I think you're just pissed at the superior Euro. The EU is one of the best things Europe has done, ever. In my state, gas prices are 4 USD a gallon(or about 2.55 Euros). The economy is crap, everywhere. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

If crime rates went down, would police officers get laid off? Doubtful, they'd be finding some other way to remain useful. The marijuana world has saved the realm of speeding tickets. Drug, crime, etc easily pass into a country without an immigration/border security. Cultural clashing comes mainly from a lack of assimilation. Immigrants should not hold too tightly onto their native culture - instead they should blend their culture with the culture of the country they're living in. The rich/poor divide has nothing to do with immigration since there are immigrants that are both rich and poor. In fact, some immigrant groups actually have a higher income than some native populations. Immigrants aren't a problem. But a lack of immigration policy that assimilates immigrants and influx of illegal immigration are huge problems. As for the problems with quasi-socialist countries, none of them were really booming to begin with, sure they made improvements while under a capitalist system, they were too far behind to really keep up with the western powers. (China being the only exception because they have like 4 times as many people as anyone else.) European nations are western powers, and they have caught up. Their GDP per capita is around at least 80% that of the US. China is no exception because in terms of GDP per capita, they are still relatively poor and developing. And after 50 years of economic starvation, China has learned that communism doesn't work... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
