I need help with a mod, i decided that Scarabs would be easy to use as "Beams" that home on targets.
But can i use 4 different Scarabs [that i color different {Yellow, White, Purple, and Red+ the Hidden Blue Beam}]?
if i can, How can i do this?

Waaaay to be productive, modmaster. Stop being stupid, you already did that on Maplantis.

Anyway, I can think of having multiple graphics that are dislplayed as overlays to cover the old scarab with the recolored ones.
And you would randomly use any of them using randcondjumps to alternate the different colors.
Other than that I wouldn't know :P

Ummm...I wasnt being stupid. I said you cant because scarabs are hardcoded. There is only one unit that is a scarab and it will stay that way (unless you have the sc source code).

Your method has a downside. You cannot choose which type to shoot!

Yes, you were being stupid because you could have explained what you just did in first place.
And yes, it has that downside but he didn't say "Can I pick between four different scarabs?"

How am I an asshole? Scarabs are hardcoded, so you dont make different scarab units.

O ya, another question, is it possible to get a Unit to lift off the ground and turn into an air unit?

like the new terran unit for SC2------The Viking

It's possible, but it really hasn't been looked into. You'll need to edit the seige tank graphic and do some advanced iscripting, because of the hardcodedness of the tank you might as well as leave it alone and save yourself some molestation.

Aaanyways, what kind of effect are you trying to achieve with the 'beams'? If you can't do a given thing one way, there's often another way about it. ;P

i want a mod like Metroid prime, where you shoot a charged beam [sometimes] it homes in on the target, like the scarabs do, and i can TRY to do something

I don't think scarabs are the best way to emulate a beam from metroid prime.
Not to put you down but trying to shove a FPS into an RTS like starcraft isn't the best of ideas.

lolno. There isn't any sort of halo/doom/metroid/half-life/portal/etc. -> SC mods anywhere and you're saying that lots of people like those sort of mods?

I may believe he's thinking of maps, not mods; and I do seem to recall a Snipers mod. Not to mention, as much as it's never done, it's an idea that some people do like to talk about.
