Hi I want to use ORAI(Open rebelliopn AI) star wars mod grp.

1)So Ask for permission for bajadulce(Open rebellion tc maker)or corbo?

2)I went to ORTC old cite(https://web.archive.org/web/20080913174115/http://openrebellion.smempire.org/ ) and read FAQ (Question : I'm making my own StarCraft to Star Wars Total Conversion, can I use your graphics? , Answer : Absolutely not. Graphics include 3D models, renderings, .SMKs, and .GRPs. The 3D models that I didn't create were downloaded from the public archives at the Star Wars 3D Modeling Alliance, which appears to be down at the moment.)

So this Question and answer are meaningless?

The sword and the faith

Baja is no longer around, though Corbo may or may not reply.

It sounds like a lot of the graphics were acquired from a 3rd party (3D Modeling Alliance) and without their permission it would not be appropriate to use those resources.

1) 3D Modeling Alliance(3rd party) is alive?
2) IF 3rd party(3D Modeling Alliance) cite is alive . Could I ask 3rd party permission?

I personally would see if you can get in contact with them through the email address posted on this website: https://www.mateengreenway.com/matintro.htm (mateen@mateen.demon.co.uk). Not sure if it's the original creator, but best lead I could find. If they respond yes, great. If they respond no, obviously don't use it. And if they didn't respond at all, and it was me, I'd probably use the resources anyway if they were available to me and I'd make sure to give proper attribution. It's all tricky on projects that are this old. It's been more than 20 years, and I think most reasonable people wouldn't mind their work being repurposed with proper attribution that far down the line. It's not like your project would be in competition for popularity with their project. Imo, it's an ethically grey area, but there are many projects that have been remastered by modern creators, and I don't see this being all that much different.

My Projects:

Impossible Ultraviolet | Impossible UV 2 | Impossible UV 3
Mercenaries 2020 | Mercenaries III
Squad Defense

Legacy Projects (No guarantee of functionality in modern SC):

Pixel Adventure 2 | Space Snipers | Control the Ball

Thank you Ultraviolet for answer.
[and I read old ortc web site's news(9-16-06)(Sorry for leaving everyone in the lurch.

It's certainly odd that I can forget that I made (or at least started) a mod for Starcraft called Open Rebellion, but forget I did, for months (years) at a time. However, I haven't forgotten about its history, namely the beginning, where I decided that I didn't like what Acolyte57 and his Betrayal at Geedon V team were doing with their mod and wanted to do something better. In the end, I think I did, but I fell well short of the goals I set for myself. So if you don't like what I did and want to do something better, go for it. And don't be an arrogant jerk like I was when you do.

Yeah, Open Rebellion is dead. I started it for the reasons above, but I kept going because I felt that the experience I gained would allow me to improve my portfolio later on and get a job in the games industry. That plan never really went through and I ended up getting a job at an architecture firm, which was easy because I somehow graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in architecture. To be honest, I didn't have a clue how long I would stay before trying again to do what I thought I really wanted to do. Two years later, I don't plan on leaving. The work is challenging, yet fun, and my co-workers are all pretty awesome, especially the firm's principals. Unfortunately for ORTC, there's a lot of work to do and when I get home, making a mod is so far from my mind that I forget I even made a mod.

Besides, there are too many fun games to play and I have barely enough time to play them all.

That's basically it. If you want to play Open Rebellion Beta 2, you still can; you just need Brood War patched to version 1.10 and no higher. Later patches break the functionality of one or more of the modding utilities needed to run it, which is why many people who try to play it encounter all sorts of broken tech tree wackiness. I might be able to fix it, but I'm not all that willing to.

Even though ORTC is done for, I'm certainly not! Head over to this thread for good times! This will be the last update on the Open Rebellion TC website, so thanks to everyone who ever cared and doublethanks for the fine folks at SME for hosting.).And I want to use star wars X wing hq grp for sc grp.]
