Night of the Dead: Outbreak
In 2006 Starlite brought to the WC3 Community NOTD: Aftermath, a team based zombie survival RPG in which you take the role of an USMC marine deployed to defend a rural area. Today we dig deeper in the origins of its infection, claimed to have originated in Boston, but now we find out its inception goes back to a tragic police case filed in Concord, Massachusetts.

STORYLINE/INTRODUCTION
USMC Golf Company is deployed to Sector C to help local law enforcement contain a rather ominous situation and assess the seriousness of it. What the marines would never know is that they're being played as a reactionary force to a much greater problem than they could imagine...

Inmerse yourself in a team based survival RPG for 6 players with class-specific abilities and dynamic quests which adapt according to your decisions.

If the map can be played with only 3 players, 256x256 is probably way too big. People have a tendency to use that map size to try to fit more things in, but it just makes the map feel impossibly huge and barren most of the time. Rather, you might want to try to reuse areas such as interiors on a smaller map that can be more dense and feel more alive.

Thank you very much for your feedback Dem0n, I really appreciate it. I agree with you on the interior usage and there are a few designs I want to try.

The thing I fear about making the map small is that NOTD: Aftermath's iconic style was related to the game length and variability which relied heavily on the map diversity and initially I'd like to recreate that. That being said, do you think that a "long" gameplay (~60 minutes) with many quests and usage of the various landscapes would mitigate the issue you mention?

Hello FirePrometheus.

I've played my fair share of NOTD but nowhere near as much as some, (that feel when you're in a pub lobby and someone puts in their savecode and they're a Colonel/General. :P), and it was always a map I enjoyed.

I think its VERY ambitious to try and make something like that on SC, but I guess EUDs do open a lot of doors that previously wouldn't have been possible.

I understand Dem0n's apprehension about the size, but knowing the original I think you're going to need a lot of space to do this right. I also think the map is only going to play at its best with 5-6 people who know what they're doing, which is going to be a hard lobby to get.

Still, I'm very interested to see where this goes. Best of luck.
