We should really just pin this topic. It seems like someone makes the exact same one at least once a year.

For SC1: I discover the game back in September of 1998 while visiting a friend who broke one of his bone during the summer.
I was already into RTS (they were all the rage on PC at that time), and when he make me try StarCraft, I immediately fall in love with the game.
So, I received it on Christmas 1998, then Brood-War during summer 1999.

For SC2: This game never existed.

Why not? It's a good game.

It never had a much impact as the first one for me.

I'm more a single player person, and it seems that SC2 was way more build for competitive multiplayer than the first one, plus the main campaign is, to my point of view, less good and epic than the ones of SC1 and BW, so, it always leave a bitter taste.

Mr.Pete-Tong

I dont fully agree on that.. I think SCBW is lesser singler player minded and more minded for competition play. SC2 Arcade and the SC2 editor has better save game options for single player modded maps, Like RPGs and more. The single player game as sc1 and sc2 both has history im not fully sure cause i only played the SC1 single player game and wasnt that impressed i mean other single player games are way more detailed and intriggering like fps games horror and action packed games.

I havent played SC2 single player but its prolly not that bad im not sure. it surely has some rts challenges like the sc1 single player game. But SC for me have always been the multiplayer side and the recreational side of the map making to SC. which offers fun games and crazy ideas implemented for an RTS game.

I mean One Guy here have made an insanely good single player map called THE ARchitect for sc. THANK YOU ohh man.. To ME that map is way better than the sc single player storie

When they first launched SC2 they sold it on the single player side at first i think.

Trust is everything

Yeah, same. I just don't think it justifies to pretend it doesn't exist.

I too was disappointed when it was released. I held sc1 and Blizzard's support in such high regard that I wanted to give something back by buying sc2 no matter what. But when I realized what a disaster it was on release, I decided that I can't "reward" that and pirated it instead. *That* was the bitter taste for me. The campaign despite all its weaknesses was fun. I would've missed out if I had allowed "my bitterness" to prevent me from experiencing it.
I also pirated Heart of the Swarm and realized that sc2 had matured quite a bit. So I finally bought Legacy of the Void, which included all campaigns. No regrets. I'm also quite fond of the coop mode and custom maps to even play the campaigns in coop. Arcade in general is pretty good nowadays. Just there's not the sheer amount of maps we'd see in sc1 because the editor is so complex. A shame really. And finally sc2 e-sports is pretty big, which I often watch on Youtube.

So in short, sc2 was shit when it came out, but it has improved over the years, so maybe you could give it a second chance.
Of course it couldn't and will never replace the place that sc1 has in my heart. There's no second childhood memories.
