Welcome to the StarEdit.net Fite League. StarEdit.net Fite League is a melee tournament open to SEN members and potentially invited players.
General Information- Date: December 23, 12 PM EST
- Where: Channel donuts@USWest
- Map pool: Mostly nonstandard to promote unpremeditated play, partially curated by Excalibur, decided by me
Format- All rounds will be best of 3 except for the finals, which will be best of 5.
- Single elimination - if you lose in a round, you're out of the tournament with the exception of fighting for third or fourth place.
- In rounds leading up to the finals, each player elects to remove one map from the map pool for that round. The round will then be played with maps in the linear order shown above. e.g. if I removed MushRooM and my opponent removed Reap The Storm, we would then play Frogstar World, Demian, and Fighting Spirit in that order.
PrizesPrizes will be given out by myself.
- Grand Prize: 300 minerals
- 2nd Place: 150 minerals
- 3rd Place: 100 minerals
- 4th Place: 50 minerals
- 5th-8th Place: 20 minerals, participation trophy
Potential MemesSince SEN members are typically not melee players, the entire tournament may follow one of these meme rules to help prevent newbies from getting stomped in standard play:
- Each match is Terran vs. Terran, and players can only ever have one factory throughout the entire game (factory units are the core of TvT)
- Each match is Protoss vs. Protoss, and players cannot make any dragoons throughout the entire game (dragoons are the core of PvP)
- Each match is Zerg vs. Zerg, and players cannot make a spire throughout the entire game (mutalisks are the core of ZvZ)
RosterBracket seeds will be determined by one's melee history, known skill level, Battle.net stats and matchmaking rating if applicable. Sign ups are open: let me know if you're interested in playing/meming and I'll add you to the roster.

Sounds genuinely like fun. Too bad I probably can't participate given the time it's set. Still I got some questions / proposition about the meme rules:
- Does it mean each match (or for the whole tournament?) each player must choose a race, which decides the debuff? Can they random? (I understand the description differently but that's what it would make sense to me.)
- Is it enough to limit Terran to a single factory? MM's backed up by a few tanks is pretty scary too. Shouldn't they just be exempt from building Siege Tanks?
- No Devourers or Scourge makes Carriers on cliffs unbeatable. No Guardians or Mutas means no effective means to deal with Reavers. How about disallowing fighting with Mutas?

It means each match would be a mirror match up, e.g. you'd do TvT but can only make one factory, and you'd never do a non-mirror match up with meme restrictions. The restrictions subvert the meta pretty heavily, so it'd be interesting. I've edited the first post to clarify.
Also, you can tentatively sign up and if it isn't possible to participate then someone can fill in for you.

Ya 6am on a holiday... I'm pretty sure I'll be sleeping, so no point in doing an optional sign up. But thx.
Only mirror matches? That'll be memey indeed. I'd randomize the race each game, so it gets mixed up a bit.
Reminder that SEN Fite League will be starting at 12 PM (12:00) EST tomorrow at donuts@USWest. If there are fewer than 8 players signed up, then the first round will be played among lower seeded players to be seeded into the semi finals.
Attached is the map pool; all participants should download it and extract the contents to their map downloads folder. Whether the memes rules will be used or not is to be decided.

I'll be at least an hour late due to some unforeseen gluttony
ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO
Since we have an odd number i should be some sort of a wildcard. Everyone should play vs me and beat me. In 5mins or they do not qualify and i enter the brackets xD
fuck you all
Because fewer than eight players are participating, meme rules will be in effect. Each game will be a mirror match up with the restrictions outlined above; failure to play within these restrictions will lead to disqualification of that game. The race played in each match will be determined by me with the assistance of
https://www.random.org/ in this way:
1 - Terran vs. Terran
2 - Protoss vs. Protoss
3 - Zerg vs. Zerg
The tentative bracket can be seen here:

*sluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurp!* Melee Map Maker
Maybe you should advertise this on TL.net.
And the map is actually called "Frogstar World B". The B is integral and not just a version number or something. If you don't get the reference, google it ;D
None.
But then it wouldn't be
StarEdit.net Fite League anymore if it's advertised elsewhere.
Maybe you should advertise this on TL.net.
I would if the prize pool was real money, but as it's digital currency only on SEN it makes sense to only include SEN members. Plus I'd like to drum up some more melee playing here, since people here have typically avoided melee even though it's a lot of fun.
And the map is actually called "Frogstar World B".
Fixed.
*sluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurp!* Melee Map Maker
Well, I would play, I'd definitely have an edge in map knowledge
But unfortunately I still haven't figured out how to run anything other than 1.16 on Linux…
None.
Congratulations to DarkenedFantasies who won the grand prize of 300 minerals after a close best of 5 that he won 3 to 2 thanks to two wins in a ZvZ and a win in a PvP. Here's the final bracket:
http://challonge.com/p3ujahhq Pr0nogo couldn't stay for the 3rd place fight, so Voyager was given that prize. This tournament was a lot of fun playing within the meme rules, and there were a lot of interesting games that included stuff like sunken colony rushes, mass scouts, and failed bunker rushes.
