The townsfolk had had enough. It was time for action - and the mayor agreed. Approaching the podium within the town hall, where almost everyone had gathered for heated discussion, Apos tapped the microphone before revealing his identity in an impassioned speech. Fear racked the hearts of the accused and the guilty - would the mayor string them up on his first day of office? His edict echoed throughout the hall:"Cast your votes, my friends. There are villains and murderers among us. We must get this town back on track."
lil-inferno stood up immediately and reaffirmed his accusation, voting for the unassuming FarTY1billion. Offended by such a heated display, Corbo cast his vote for the accuser, only to be voted against by jjf28. Additional votes stacked against FaRTy - Ashamed and even NudeRaider sided with lil-inferno, apparently swayed by his and the mayor's call to action. In a last-ditch effort to defend himself against such sudden accusations, FaRTy1billion cast his vote for lil-inferno, but it was not to be.

After reading the crowd and considering the stakes, Apos followed in the footsteps of his constituents, casting his vote for FaRTy1billion and sealing the man's fate. The noose was prepared, and the rope forced around FaRTy's neck. The mayor offered the accused time for last words, but they responded with a panicked and vitriolic incantation in a foreign tongue, drawing gasps from the crowd before the lever was pulled, and the witch was hung.

The body of the witch had been burned, and the townspeople returned to their homes feeling a little safer. Their mayor had revealed himself, and the witch had been dealt with - but the presence of the murderer was still felt, and the threat of death filled the mayor's heart with dread. He may have not been Mafia, but for day 1 that went well for us regardless. Now that Apos is confirmed as someone trustworthy on the town's side, everyone should send their role to him. Anyone who refuses shall be branded an enemy.

Aight, Apos trusts me now. We've been speaking for a bit and we want to use jailor on the mafia, but we're still missing 2 role reports so it's 50/50 we get the right one. So please everyone send Apos your role PM or you accidentially might end up dead.

DAYBREAK
A news bulletin had been posted from the desk of Mayor Apos, filled with legalese that no one quite understood the first time through. With some explanation from the mayor himself, however, all became clear.
No one was killed this day. Mayor Apos has passed legislation to allow the detective to conduct home invasions, discovering the identity and role of whoever they target.
Day 2 has begun! It will end at 11:59 PM Eastern on Wednesday, August 15th.

The reasoning still applies to a night where no hit is performed (if that's the case, maybe it was blocked) if Patriarchs is inactive, nothing will happen - if someones inactivity happens to match a no-hit night, they are more likely to be the patriarch than otherwise.
It also applies to a night where a hit is performed, those that are active are more likely to be Patriarchs and those that are not active are assuredly not.
I can sample space it if there's any doubt.

A hypothesis is good if it makes no, or reasonable assumptions. The assumption (so your hypothesis works) is that payne must be Patriarch. Statistically there's an 11% chance for that. I can't give you a number but my gut tells me the hypothesis that the mayor did a good job of distributing towns assets is a lot higher.

I've made some assumptions on role counts and such (I think you'll find them reasonable, I've explained further in the shoutbox). From this there was a 1/6th chance payne was the Patriarch on day 1, and we know there there is a 100% there would be no hit if he was Patriarch and was inactive all night. A no-hit bumps up the chances of this being the case slightly, irregardless of whether the mayor would block have otherwise blocked the hit; I'm not sure how to math it but I'm calling it worthy of a 2% bump

There also might be a doctor role if I am not mistaken? I honestly dont have a FOS for payne, but I dont know if he is town or mafia. If we all agree I dont mind voting - but a town discussion I think is a must first. Also presumably a detective is around. He should have 2 nights of reports now.
