If you want BC's to shoot from high dirt to low dirt, you could go with the BC's (or wraiths) shooting at burrowed units that you pretty much wont use, so you can max out its armor and HP, then set triggers to make sure it's always alive. You have to make sure they don't unburrow when you shoot them though.
I'm not sure how consistant you want it... you'll have to space the burrowed units out far enough so that each one is being hit by at least one wraith. Just as you can imagine it, though, it would just be a bunch of lazers shooting, rather than a constant lazer effect... but the units shooting won't be seen because they're not shooting at your units. A sudden thought: Since air units tend to float around when the space they occupy is shared, you could have a strip of high dirt, on one side, you place cannons, stack them how you want, make sure they are powered, and the other side, burrowed units. You can do it just about with any unit that shoots. Tanks would be cool too, since you can't see them fire, it would just be the ground exploding Oh yeah, you could also have an observer move up and down, have a location following it, then have a unit under the observer constantly. If I understand it right, you want the laser to bounce back? (Using proper English might help) Well then you could use 2 cloaked wraiths shooting at each other. If you want to simulate a height difference place 1 above a cliff. If its not enough place the "low" wraith 1-2 tiles lower. Problem is, that their cool down is a bit random so the timing of the shots will shift slightly. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() www.sonsofwar.uuuq.com___0% 100% |

You actually can see tanks shoot. When they shoot, they appear in your vision, even if they are on high ground. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [11:49 pm] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- At least it wasn't a red-hot iron nail.

Well then you pretty much presented the solution yourself. You just have the problem that the bcs won't change targets when you come by.
One workaround: Place 2 bcs ALLIED to the player on a cliff, so that they are shooting each other (or a cloaked wraith in the middle of the canyon if you need it to be broader). Then have another unit like a ghost placed under the bc which is ENEMY to the player and allied with all others. When the ghost kills you only the bc will be seen. Or you move the bcs onto themselves so that they choose a new target and hope its the player unit (not recommended) Or you ally the bcs with all others and make them enemy to the player when the player comes near. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() www.sonsofwar.uuuq.com___0% 100% |

Not unless it's targetting you, no? If it's targetting, say, a burrowed p12 unit or whatnot. I THINK that's how it works, but I'm not sure. The computer with the tank would also have to be allied to the player. The splash damage will still hit the player. As for the thread topic, would this work? You have a location centered on your unit. Everytime the unit walks out of the location, create a burrowed unit (whatever wont unburrow and/or attack), then center the location to your unit. Have the BC allied to you, shooting at burrowed ground units (however you've that set up), but when the player and the burrowed units you created upon centering location happens to be on the same location, set the computer ally status to enemy. You can improve this big time, if you use 2 position updating locations (locations that follow you at an interval). Just imagine your unit that is running is dropping bits of bread as he runs through a canyon, not realizing so. When ever, should he decide to turn back, there will be monsters already scavenging at his trail... as soon as they see him... M . M . . .M . . . . M M = Marine . = burried unit If you had 2 updating locations... you could have one removing the burrowed units to the point where there is only 1 at a given time, so that the BC will always shoot at that one, which is following your footsteps, and if you were to turn around, that unit is either set invincible or removed or the computer that owns it becomes allied by the BC computer, you, in turn, become unallied and therefore shot upon. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I don't exactly know what you are trying to explain there, but ofc you can make a burrowed ling following the player.
And you can make the player allied to the bcs and the lings enemy. But it would make more sense if the bcs fired directly at the player.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() www.sonsofwar.uuuq.com___0% 100% |

what's ofc >_<? Of course?
Yeah, I noticed what I was trying to explain was in a very complicated manner, if the "explaination" itself even makes sense... What I had imagined was that he wanted a lazer to trail the unit so that if the unit does decide to turn around, it will be shot. Oh... There's something you could do better for that... scratch my previous post ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
