wth is starcraft

Hey guys,

so lately I've been considering picking this up, and I've been asking people for their opinions on it and if it is worth getting into. The overwhelming response is that it is a lot of fun and there's a lot of new mechanics/game play. But...I really haven't heard much about how it is different. So...I'm hoping if someone could tell me if this game would be a good fit or if I should save my money?

Truth be told, I don't want new mechanics. I really like pretty straight forward questing objectives with a fun/interesting/emotional story to go with it. I really enjoyed a lot of the vanilla quests for WoW as cheesy as they were, and I really really enjoyed the plot of the Wrath expansion. A lot. Burning Crusade was very meh to me, but it appears that a lot of people had a lot of strong opinions about it.

I was left underwhelmed when Cata came out. I was very disappointed that it overwrote a lot of the vanilla quests without any way for me to reply what I loved. At first I thought that this was out of frustration: some quests you must complete to continue required you to function in the third dimension which was excessively difficult on a laptop (I know where there were instances in Wrath where this was true as well, but I was able to avoid it). However, I now have a gaming PC, and I have discovered I just really hate quests with random vehicle/gameplay mechanics. I also was severely frustrated with the talent/spell overhauls that came with Pandaria, and I felt like they dumbed down a lot of quests and abilities. "This will heal you for a lot, but will lose a lot of mana." Ugh, please don't talk down to me.

I also don't have a ton of time for video games anymore. I've stuck to casual games, or games that I have the freedom to come and go as I need to. I had trouble keeping up with my friends/guildies in a lot of the expansions, because I didn't have the time to put into the game and I didn't have the time to watch a ton of walk-through videos or learn new mechanics for a five man dungeon that was over in half an hour anyways.

I know this all sounds very negative of me. I really did enjoy wow at one time. I just am curious if I would enjoy it now?

Despite a dreadful launch, I really like WoD so far. I hit level 100 with my main yesterday morning. The quests are a lot better than in the previous expansions, almost on par with vanilla.
I love the Garrison feature. It gives you something to work towards which you can do without a group, something I've missed from the game for a long time. I'm just worried that once you've upgraded everything to max, there'll be nothing to do other than picking up all the crafting materials it offers and sending followers on missions. I'm also a bit worried that as you can craft stuff from professions you don't have, it'll make it harder to sell stuff like enchantments and gems on AH.
The dungeons seems all right, though I haven't been able to do heroics yet, but from what I hear they're a lot harder than in MoP at least.

I heard that the story was really good. I don't personally play.

I've heard this as well. I'm going to take the time to actually pay attention to what's going on when I get around to level up an alt. My Warrior just wants to kill kill kill ALL the Orcs.

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

This is the first expansion that I haven't rushed to max level. Playing WoD feels a lot like they took elements from SWTOR and Skyrim to include in WoW, and I'm loving it so far. The garrison concept is great, the follower system is awesome, and the story is fantastic. It doesn't ever feel grindy to me, and with all you can do in the garrison, I never feel like dailies are a pain in the ass. Also holy crap the dungeons are fun. Also as someone who plays too many dual-spec characters, the changes they made to itemization are great.

I've become a WoW fanboy again because of Warlords.

Grimrail Depot is a pain in the arse, but it looks amazing. By far my favourite dungeon ever. Keeps reminding me of Convoy on UT2004 :P
