I played a map called don't click the flag, and when you did click the flag, you were defeated, and the game crashed. How do you do that?

If you place the flag for certain players(above 20, I believe) it will crash when clicked on because it has no portrait.

It also happens if you make a flag for a player with certain colors

Thought it had something to do with colors.

Thigh high affectionado

The flag only has 16 colors, Red ~ Yellow, Green, Tan, Light, Yellow, Neutral blue, And then the 4 after which ends at Cyan. SC expected 16 players, but never got around to it I guess, so they got lazy with neutral and set it to player 12

Sure I didn't pop off on SCBW like I wanted to, but I won VRChat. Map maker for life.

Anybody an idea how it is made that the player gets defeated?
I've never seen it and wouldn't know how to do it (without UED's) just by clicking the flag...

I've never known if it actually defeated you. I always just thought it crashed immediately.

exactly that's what I experienced, too.

We live in a society.

You can also have a bad string used as the Flag's name.

In StarCraft II, it can be easily used on triggers!

Oh? I'm sorry then I'm obviously in the wrong forum. Thought this one was for sc/bw.

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

it has to do with the colors.
each player has his own color.

flags owned by a few extended players do not crash. they will show you a speaking unit portrait.
I made a testmap with nearly every stable one (map crashed after a few minutes), but it is for 1.13*.
patch 1.14 changed the player colors (I think it has to do with the memory... I do not really know), so the map crashes now (you can see the effect in many maps: some had a sc-crashing flag which did not crash before)

I had some strange effects, too.
The strangest effect was a crash which caused the creation of a new maps folder called "m" in the sc-directory and starcraft tried to load every map out of there as long the folder "m" existed.
the best speaking portrait was the man (maybe scientist) who had sth in his eye and who had no hair on his head....
he looked like a skinhead... :S really strange...
you can see that portrait in some mods (maplantis has it in its database).

Okay, so basically, it relies on color, but if you don't want to waste a player's color, simply place it for an extended player with a crashing color.

Also, I'm sure he meant that he got defeated when he crashed, not that it triggered a defeat.

thanks. yeah, it just crashed.

On the same note, I was wondering if theres a way to crash an individual player via triggers.
I tried having a high no. player flag that gave the player a transmission, but it was red.
I'd also prefer it if it just instadropped them, so other players don't have to deal with someone elses stupidity [It's punishment for lifting]
Thx in advance.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

Why is defeat not enough?

You can use an EUD desync. I don't know how to do it, but someone does, who will hopefully read this and explain it.

Alternatively, you can move the player to a disabled/crashing sprite and give them vision. If you don't know what sprite to use, open up any snipers map and choose one of those.

If you don't want someone to lift, just kill the building, then make a new one.

Hey I made that map. Lulz. I forget what player # I used. At the time the map was made GUEdit was the most advanced mapping tool ev4r and no one ever had such things in maps.

I want noobs to learn the hard way.
And I can't respawn the building, because it has HP, and it's critical, so if lifting heals it, it's kidna an exploit.
I'll see how the dropping spirtes go.
