i was working on a system where players units would act as junkyard put also be owned as p9-12 (to ensure they dont fire back)

a problem i ran into was if you do the following

a = human
b= comp

-give units from player a to player b
- run ai scipt on player b units
- give player b units to player 9

as soon as the units are given to p9 they stop moving, to get around this you have to space out the triggers so that theyre like

death count 0
-give units from player a to player b
- run ai scipt on player b units

death count 2
- give player b units to player 9

and then the units will still act junk yardish but be owned by p9!!!! wallah!

im not sure why this gap is required, perhaps the reason is that units orders aren't stored in memory until after the full trigger cycle runs.

Do they actually retain the junk yard dog script? From what I've seen they will move to their last waypoint and then stop.

If that's the case, I don't see why you couldn't have a computer run a trigger every few seconds which gives all the units from P9 to current player, runs the junkyard AI, and then gives all the units back to P9.

I just checked it, and no, it is not true junkyard behavior, the p9 unit will walk to wherever the last junkyard command told it to then stop like farty said.

moose's comment can be used to fix this however

i just checked and since it is possible to give orders to p9 units, im not sure how useful this is.

one could probably make their own jyd type trigger using order commands and custom locations but this method allows one to use the jyd script on p9-12 without too much work.

sorry, this isn't a true assistance post, but i started it when i still had a question and had the solution once i finished.
