I have about 25,000+ maps that I have sorted in my own personal folders. But there aren't very many categories.
I'd like to ask you all what categories I should add to my map folder, so that when I'm ready, I can upload it to the site.
Currently, I have these categories:
My Categories
A Day at School
BAD MAPS (Not good for hosting)
Bounds
Cat & Mice
DBZ Maps
Defense Maps ~ (Decide whether I should separate them on different categories or not)
Element Maps
Fun Maps (That I personally like, but didn't fit into any of my other categories)
Game Vs. Game Maps (PS3 vs. XBOX; Pokemon Vs. Digimon; etc)
Halo Maps
Impossible Maps (The Impossible stuff, not literally impossible to beat)
Kerrigan's Demise (Made for a file request a while back)
Korean Maps (No idea what they actually are, hence "Korean")
LOTR Maps
Lurker Def Maps
Mario Maps (Anything Mario related)
Matrix Stuff (Includes Atrix maps, figured why not)
Melee Maps
Mind Control Maps
Pokemon Maps
Poker Def Maps
Random (It's my dump category, maps that don't fit my current categories go in here)
Roy's Maps (All of the ones I have obtained thus far)
RPG Maps (Includes RP Maps)
Sato] Maps (Maps that were edited by Sato to have an English title, from a Korean title)
Sims Maps
Special Forces Maps
Star Wars & Trek Maps (Also did for a file request a while back)
Sunken & Spore Defense Maps
Turret & Cannon Defense Maps
Yu-Gi-Oh Maps
None.
Take a peek at the categories in this
map compilation.
Eh, thanks. But Renaka's sorting is kind of confusing, and it just doesn't fit well.
I want sorting in a different way than "A-Z". xD

Organizing maps is kind of like organizing books or novels. You have to try to find general sweeping trends and assign them accordingly.
The other thing to keep in mind is how you intend to use the categories. Do you want them to be sorted in a way that allows you to access the maps easily? Then you should factor that in. Do you just want a comprehensive way to find each and every map when you want it, not really caring how long it takes so long as it does work? Then some thorough system with comprehensive sorting criteria would be best. It's kind of up to you and how you're going to use your maps.
