We went and saw the new 007 movie last night. Here's the trailer if you haven't seen it:
Personally it is my favorite of the Daniel Craig James Bond movies. A lot is going on in this movie - it is very hard to describe it or talk about it without giving something away. So don't click the collapse box unless you want to see spoilers.
Not spoilers: -The new Q is a nice revamp for the department. Also, he's a pretty face, so that helps. -The movie plays out in a very "back to basics" way, as my boyfriend put it. It is much closer to the older James Bond movies in plot progression (and in humor, I feel - something Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace was lacking imo). -Watch the fucking movie. Seriously. You meet some "new" characters. I nearly died at an end reveal for one of them.
SPOILERS LINE DO NOT CROSS
-GoldenEye references abound - Q even mentions the exploding pen. -When we started getting into the real plot I was afraid the big baddy would just be a reboot of Trevelayn but they did a very good differentiating between the two despite the origins similarities (although Silva does act a bit like Boris, which I doubt was accidental) -I figured they'd retire M but not like this. So sad. I'm glad they set up Mallory the way they did so that he wasn't the villain usurping power. -Moneypenny is back and they gave her character a facelift! <3
Good fun for everyone! Tell me what you think when you see it!
Just saw this today. It was really good. I'm not sure if I like this one or Casino Royale better. I'm glad they're going back to the original Bond style now.

Also this didn't feel like a Bond movie it felt like a M movie. It was Judi Dench's sign off movie. Which isn't a bad thing I thought it was cool that they dedicated so much of the movie to her story. So much so in fact that Bond was almost the secondary character and M was the main char.

I actually liked that, too, funny enough.

Just came back from it. I think all the effusive praise, in this thread and elsewhere, is off the mark. It was a good movie, but I enjoyed Casino Royale much much more.
As someone who has seen all 23 bond movies, I absolutely loved skyfall. They made tons of great references, and it overall felt like it had the structure of a normal bond movie, unlike the last two Daniel Craig movies. Overall, casino royale may have been slightly better (another great movie), but this one definitely fell like a better Bond movie- best since Goldeneye, imo.
Right, I can appreciate that, and I think that's the point that a lot of critics have made, if not as clear as distinction as you just made. Not being any particular fan of the bond franchise, a lot of those references probably went over my head.
Oh_Man shouted: yeah i'm tryin to go through all the greatest hits and get the runs up on youtube so my senile ass can appreciate them more readily
You should do my Delirus map too; it's a little cocky to say but I still think it's actually just a good game lol

Ultraviolet -- Oh wait, no I saw something else. It was more melee style, and guys were doing warpgate shit and morphing lings into banelings (Infested terran graphics)
